Hi! I don't know if anyone has reported on the DVC cruise yet but I just wanted to say that dh and I had a great time vacationing with other DVCers. It was such a success that I suspect DVC will offer other special DVC get togethers in the future. We completed a survey in which they asked if we would like another DVC cruise or a get together in Disneyland, Paris or Disneyland, California. At the reception on Wednesday night, we shouted outloud that next time we wanted the whole ship!! There were about 1000 members onboard this trip. As for special events - There were two receptions. A Welcome Aboard Party ( Deck 10, Forward) on Sunday night and a 10 Year Anniversary Reception ( Atrium) on Wednesday night. It was a lavish affair with champagne, fruit, cheese, and hot and cold appetizers/hors d'oeuvres. When we checked into the cruise terminal there was a DVC desk where we received a DVC lanyard and name tag. The name tag had a number on it which would be used for door prizes during the cruise. Door prizes were drawn from these numbers on Sunday and Wednesday night. At the Sunday reception we were given a Member Challenge card to
complete during the cruise which would be turned in on Wednesday for a drawing. For the Member Challenge we had to get the names of 10 cast members and when they were first employed with Disney, the signatures of DVC members from each of the DVC resorts ( The Beach Club Villas were the most difficult but there were a few new members on the cruise
), the number of cast members onboard the cruise, the name of the photographer at Castaway Cay, etc. If I remember correctly, these cards were put in a special drawing for framed pictures of different DVC resorts. The Grand Drawing for the Cruise was for FREE 2003 dues!!! Sure wish I could have gotten this! There were drawings at the Member Updates on Monday and Tuesday and dh got 2 DVC umbrellas, a key ring, and a DVC cup. Gifts for EVERY DVC member included a special DVC 10th anniversary pin, DVC cap, and a DVC shirt. We all wore these for a group photo at Castaway Cay and the group photo was delivered to our stateroom on Wednesday night as another great momento of a wonderful get to-gether. If DVC offers other special member events in the future, I urge everyone to attend. It is great vacationing with other members! DVCers are the BEST!!
