DV Double rewards - Now I am really upset!!

So I finally get the offer in the mail for double rewards for certain purchases. I am sure by now you all know what purchases qualify, but here is the kicker. I have to spend $2300 a month on these purchases before I get double rewards on remaining purchases. Now I know we spend more than the average family, but how could a family of four possibly spend over $2300 on gas, groceries, etc? I would have to feed the whole neighborhood.
Evidently I am being "punished" b/c in the past six months we have gone to WDW twice (unusual for us) and placed a deposit on our cruise for our whole family (15 people). They only look at your total historical spending to set the rate, not specifically at the purchases they reward double bonuses too.

I still love the rewards points I get, just really disappointed to have to miss out on this opportunity. I think Bank One is being a little unreasonable with this minimum.

Hey at least you got a card!

I have been a member since the very first day it came about and I have not recieved one Postcard about double bonus point offers ever.

That does sux though, one or two months of high spending and they assume that is your normal spending.

I did get a call from them yesterday... My new Disney Visa are coming in the mail with DVC Member Embossed on them :Pinkbounc :hyper:

I got my notice yesterday and was a bit apprehensive about opening it up as I have been charging up a storm lately to get the double rewards for our next trip. We were even lucky enough to have the double rewards deal run during our last trip to Disney so I charged everything for the trip as well.

Wow, was I relieved to see that I only have to spend $150 a month before I get the double rewards, that is much lower than the current offer where I had to spend $350 a month.

Have to run, things to buy, things to charge, wanna have loads to spend in October. LOL

shelly3girls - I wonder if you can call and ask to have that limit reduced? It certainly would be worth a try.

I STILL haven't received any double-points offer! I keep waiting, and waiting, and waiting....

FYI. I never received the double points flyer. However, last night I went on the website to refill my rewards card and clicked thur the special offers and I had one. Mine is for $350 so I probably won't make it any month!

I got the letter. Now We are TRYING not to use the Credit cards and not let our debt get any deeper.> So after I book Room and Passes (4 for 7 deal) get all Airfares yadda yadda.. And Im DONE Charging the things that NEED to be charged I get the letter for spending only over 100 dollars a month for the next YEAR. I will get double dollars for it..

My offer was on-line and it is for $650. It is also for certain things like groceries, utilities, gas etc...........not just any purchase over $650.

I have never - never gotten any double reward point offers. The only time I used this card this year was to pay the balance of our April Disney trip for $1336.00. This was my first and only use of the card this year.

I get so much better with my ChaseVisa, but I would sure use my Disney Visa for a year if I got by more than 1%.

It's a shame, because we too use our card for pretty much everything.

I got one today in the mail. I said I had to spend $150.00 a month to get it. YAY! :teeth:

Yeesh! I'm in the lucky $2300 club too. This oughta be fun trying to reach that amount each month. Ugh!

I got an online offer for $150.00 in spending every month between now and Sept. 30- anyone else with a shorter time?

Isn't it true that you can only earn $750 rewards dollars per year? I thought I read that in the tos when I first got the card.

I did not a card, so I went on line. I was able to find the offer and the amount. I also noticed my groceries are listed under other. I called and spoke to a very helpful rep. She looked up my grocery store and sure enough it counts, it is a small store located in New england. Then I mentioned I was having some remodeling done and she checked the company I have. they are not listed, but the company just has to call for me. This works perfect since I have a trip planned for Oct.
My amount is very small, ony $150. I use my card for everything and my bills are quite large each month, though I do pay them off at the time.

Karebear, my offer is for a full year from the end of June to next June. Not sure I will charge anything on this card after September though as we usually just go to DW every other year.

Kerry, you are wise to pay off the balance each month. You are not really getting anything if you have to pay finance charges IMHO. I put the amount I charged in my check register so I make sure I do not spend more than I would when using cash or check.

I am looking forward to being able to whip out the card to pay for a few meals or even a few extra days at DW in October. ::MinnieMo

I have been a Disney Visa cardholder since "day one" and have yet to receive ANY special offers (oops) for double points, that is !

I got the crappy $2,300 offer also! Actually, I more upset about the limit to get double rewards than I would be not getting one at all. I guess since my last trip to WDW was on there my average was higher. :(

i just got the one full year, with the $150. I wish I would have gotten it sooner, since I charge everything I possible can, but I won't complain!
I don't know how they choose the time frames and spending amounts. I would think they'd give me a much higher minimum, since I charge an average of $2000 a month anyway. They're obviously not trying to get me to charge more with that low $150.

Are they absolutely crazy????
There is no way I am going to spend that amount each month.
Besides, my offer stated you only get double points for the $$ that exceed 800.00.
I think their offers are pretty much a joke.
AMEX is giving double points on just about everything right now.
I think I am going to go back to using their card on a regular basis.

My offer was for the $650 spending too - I might be able to reach that level, except my grocery store, Giant Eagle, is not considered a grocery store by Bank One! I noticed we were in california last month and my grocery purchases at Albertsons were also listed as "other" not groceries. These are both large grocery chains - if Bank One doesn't count them as groceries, there is no way I can reach their spending levels for double rewards! I e-mailed them about this, but I am not expecting much help.
