I fell over laughing while listening to the last Discussion podcast, about Yvette's Dutch Christmas with Sinter Claus and the slaves. Mostly because I knew the story already, and it was fun listening to y'all figuring out... Does she really mean slaves? I think it's supposed to be sleighs... No, it's slaves all right!
The author and humorist David Sedaris wrote a very funny piece for Esquire about the Dutch version of Santa with the slaves, titled "Six to Eight Black men". You can check it out online here: http://www.esquire.com/features/ESQ1202-DEC_SEDARIS
Even better though, he also preforms the piece on his album "David Sedaris: Live at Carnegie Hall", which you can get through iTunes. Reading it is okay, but listening to his delivery on the album is completely hysterical.
