I have a quick question. How many people can fit in the typical dunebuggies and or ride carts at Walt Disney World. We are a family of 4 with 2 larger size (probably more typical sizes these days) adults and two small kids ages 6 and 4. We are wondering if we will be able to ride rides together or will we have to split up which we already know..will lead to whining (i.e. I want to ride with Mommy..No I want to ride with Daddy..etc etc.)

I know that Buzz Lightyear only fits 2 because it has two laser guns. What about the other rides though (Peter Pan, Snow White, Haunted Mansion, Pirates, etc etc)

Thanks for any information provided!

Peter Pan = 2 to 3, depending on size
Haunted Mansion = 2 comfortably, a small child could make 3
Pirates = I think it's 5 across, maybe 6
Snow White = 3 rows of 2
Pooh = 2 rows of 2
Dumbo = 2
Small World = ~ 5 across
TTA = 4 comfortably
Speedway = 2 per car

There's more, I know, but that's a start.

You can pretty much count on the "I want to ride with mommy/daddy" negotiations at most rides. We're a family of four pretty close to your own, and with a few exceptions, we're riding two to a car.

Notable exceptions: Pirates, Soarin, Small World, Test Track (sort of), Dinosaur, Killamanjaro, Star Tours, Great Movie Ride, and Tower of Terror. I'm sure I'm forgetting something.

But even on those, you're going to get the "I want to sit BY Mommy/Daddy" negotiations... :lmao:

We always took turns. One ride with Mommy, next one with Daddy when there was a "2 only" ride. Of course, this means Daddy and Mommy rarely get to ride together.

I dont think my hubby and I ever ride together unless its Soarin, Small World, or larger car rides. Its a bummer, but riding with your child is priceless!!:thumbsup2

And that is only at the Haunted Mansion. Most rides don't even use a similar system to the Mansion either so that isn't a good term to use overall. "Ride vehicle" is probably the best term as it can apply to every ride no matter what ride system it uses, being the Omnimover (Mansion), a boat (small world, etc.), train (BTMRR, etc.), and so on and so fourth.

Spaceship Earth and Haunted Mansion both use a very similar "Omnimover" type system.

Buzz Lightyear and the new Seas with Nemo attractions use similar ride vehicles with slightly different mechanics. :)

Yes they do but no other rides use that system and only at the Haunted Mansion are they called "Doom Buggies" so that isn't a good term to use when referring to ride vehicles in general.

Absolutely agreed.. was just making the point that this ride vehicle design is in more than just one ride :)

I was only (tactfully) correcting the OP. I don't know of any ride vehicles referred to as "dune buggies" therefore they must have been talking about the Doom Buggies at the Haunted Mansion. I wasn't implying that all ride vehicles are Doom Buggies. Your comment should have been directed to the OP rather than a reply to my simple correction. ;)

Oh Lord, I remember those days! When my kids were little, we took turns having them ride with either me or my husband. If somebody whined, they were told, "okay, I guess you aren't riding at all since you don't like the system. " Never had to make good, the whining stopped right then! Now my kids are 11 and 13 and like to ride with each other while dh and I get to ride together!
