In response to KNWVIKING's thread " Next time I book VWL, I'm requesting the Dumpster View...... " I thought l'd list all the "dumpster views" that have been reported and ask for anyone to post others they know of. I know someone obviously has to have these rooms but since another thread stated DIS readers make up about 1/2 of 1 percent; or 1 out of every two hundred DVC owners, why should we not at least have additional info to benefit us when possible.

2560 Studio - Dedicated
2562 Studio - Dedicated
3560 Studio - Dedicated
3562 Studio -Dedicated
4560 Studio - Dedicated
4562 Studio - Dedicated
4556 2 Bdrm - Dedicated

Thanks
Sandy

P.S. While it seems obvious right above or below those mentioned would be the same view, I didn't take the liberty of marking them as such until someone who has stayed there can actually confirm.

Maybe a similar thread could be started for Accessible Rooms, if this info does not already exist.

I was going to ask this very question. I have a trip to VWL coming up in a few weeks and I want to know what to look for when they assign my room at the front desk.

If they assign me one of these rooms and I am able to change it thanks to your information, I will think of you every time I look out the window!

Thanks!

Same question here. When you initially make your reservation, can you request a lake view, and will they usually give you one? Or do you have to wait til check in time to find out. Until this thread came up i didnt even know about the dumpster view. Thanks for informing me.

Again, I understand someone has to have the less desirable room but if given choices, it is always best to be armed with info. Here is a link with some room reports and it will give you some view comments. http://members.aol.com/InstImpres/wildernesslodge.pdf

This will give you an idea of “sectional views”. It is extremely difficult to ask for a specific room (as well as trying on the CM’s). With the new room ready policy, guests have reported getting several choices at check-in and this may than help. Please remember CM's can not invent new rooms or give you something not available. I have a hard time following my mother's advise but she is right...you catch more bees with honey....be kind and considerate to the CM's

The files are in adobe acrobat and which can be downloaded from this site for free:

Good luck
Sandy

P.S. You will also note there is a room with no balcony (4533 Studio - Dedicated) it is a "design flaw"

and "lockoff"?

Thanks.

A dedicated room is just that - it can only be what it states. A lockoff is a combination of a studio and one bedroom, making up a 2 bedroom. Sometime lockoff are rented just the studio portion, sometime just the one bedroom and othertimes as a 2 bedroom. The main difference is the connecting door (like adjoining rooms in a regular hotel). Also, if you a 2 bedroom lockoff, you will have a "wet bar" area in the studio (frid, microwave, etc.)
Also, 2 bedroom dedicated rooms only have 1 entrance from the outside where as 2 bedroom lockoff's have 2 entrances - 1 from the studio, 1 from the 1 beroom.

I think that's everything

Yes you can request it at that time. Whether you get it or not seems to be the question. I have requested pool view in the past and have always received it.

There are very few villas that actually have a lake view.
If you are trying to avoid a dumpster view, a good strategy is to request a villa on the pool / Bay Lake SIDE of the resort. This will give the front desk plenty to work with, and perhaps fullfill your request as the dumpster is NOT on that side of the resort.

Good luck...

This will at least be helpful as a double check, when a CM tells you the room is not HA only to find out that it is.

Hopefully everyone will keep adding their experiences and confirmations to the list. I will definitely report back my experiences.

I do understand about these being requests, and I'm probably dating myself here by quoting the THUNDERCATS (80's cartoon) but they always ended the show with an informational tip and said

"Now you know! And knowing is half the battle"
(Hey! Im adding this to my signature LOL)

This motto has served me well in life :)

When you consider the low percentage of DVC members that frequent these boards, the percentage of members that don't care what type of room they get, and the members that actually prefer or require these rooms, having this information handy will be a big bonus for those of us that use it. It's still a gamble, but we have increased our odds.

What makes the last 2 rooms on the front side of the VWL the ones that see the dumpsters? For example why can't 2552 and 2556 see the dumpsters? I've never been that far down the hall (luckily - knock on wood) so I'd really appreciate if someone can describe the view.

Thanks

I'll bet at least 2556 does since 4556 is reported but " While it seems obvious right above or below those mentioned would be the same view, I didn't take the liberty of marking them as such until someone who has stayed there can actually confirm."

If I had to venture a guess I would also add
3556 2 Bdrm - Dedicated
5556 2 Bdrm - Dedicated

Just one thing to add. With the dedicated rooms not having the "wet bar" or the additional exterior entrance, most have an extra bathroom vanity and additional closet space.
