Hi all, someone told me that they heard that the Dumbo ride was being donated to the Smithsonian Museum. Has anyone else heard this? Is this true? I can't believe that the Walt Disney Company would do this due to the popularity of this ride. I don't know about anyone else but I don't want this to happen, Dumbo is a classic ride and me and my family love it.

Disney lent a Dumbo from the Dumbo The Flying Elephant ride and a tea cup from the Mad Tea Party ride to the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History through Labor Day.

See http://americanhistory.si.edu/news/pressrelease.cfm?key=29&newskey=259

Don't worry. That doesn't mean they eliminated the popular Dumbo ride from Disneyland or any other Disney park. Nor does it mean that Disneyland now has rides with a missing Dumbo or a missing tea cup. I'm sure Disneyland has spares.

They probably lent the Dumbo and Teacup that were replaced with the gold ones.

They rotate out older ride vehicles. John Stamos (Full House "Jesse") along with buying the old DisneyLand sign, also has a dumbo ride vehicle in his den.

He bought em on eBAy!! =D

We saw them there last week. They are in their own small display with no other Disney items. They looked a little out of place since they really weren't part of a larger "theme."
