Dumbest DVC Moment

Our crew returned from our last trip early in July 2004. After returning home and putting back everything until the next trip, I noticed I could not find my Disney Credit Card and my DVC member cards. I say cards because my member number has just about worn off my current card, so I carry my old card (Three Mountain Card) with the current one(Two mountain Card) since I can read my member number much easier. Oh yeah, like none of you ever do that.

I went through everything, carry-on bags, my wallet, clothes, receipts, ...everything. I know I checked the room safe and did not leave them there. I was very disappointed to lose my 3 mountain card. I was hoping it would turn up somewhere in our disney stuff one day, but it never did.

Even worse, whenever I needed to produce a member card for any reason, I would have to ask DW to pull out hers, only to get "that look" before she takes it out of her purse.

Well, one day while looking for my debit card in my wallet and wondering if I left in my shirt pocket the day before, I went through every compartment of my wallet looking for it.

In a hard to access (well, not that hard), but hard to see into compartment,
I found the three missing Disney cards. It scared me for a moment that I was walking around with this stuff for about 3/4 of a year without realizing it, but I got over it real quick when i remembered I will never have to go through "that look" . (at least not for this.)

I'm telling you folks because so called normal people just don't understand how happy finding this stuff made me.

Sadly, I understand what you mean .
I have lost a few 'things' and gotten 'the look' :rolleyes1

Glad you found them! :cool1:

To think of this from the female point of view, I can relate my own experience as someone who gives "the look". My DH often complains about the oversized nature of the bag I carry and jokes at some of the items I feel are necessary. He'll say "why do you have to carry ALL of your keys on one ring, can't you just carry the keys to the car you're driving and maybe the house key?" It is because of comments like these, that we give you guys "the look", just to say "that's why I carry a bag like this... to bail you out!!"

LOL!! Glad you found you're cards!!

Our dumbest moment was when 6 of us checked into a 2 BR at BCV and realized we forgot the aerobed that I had purchased especially for the trip. My daughter, her fiance, my son and his girlfriend and DH & I had the sleeping arrangements all worked out. The girls would share one BR, DH & I the other, and one guy would take the pull out in the LR and the other would take the aerobed. The guys balked about sharing the pullout so we called the desk for an egg crate mattress, which is really just an egg crate mattress topper and DS slept on it on the LR floor. We laugh about it now, but you can bet DS will never forget the aerobed again. (I'm just hoping we don't forget another piece of luggage instead!)

My dumbest DVC moments....

Not buying enough points at the beginning,

Leaving our 2 new Disney sweatshirts in our room at BWV at check-out. (BWV was great and sent them to us at no cost) :goodvibes

Buying at BCV instead of BWV. I thought BCV was "it" until I stayed there and then at BWV and I LOVED the Boardwalk!
(BTW I still love my other home VWL the best)

Having my guide "Byron" on speed dial for those add-on fixes. (that would be 4 in the last year. He's off my speed dial now, but I just love when I'm "home" and get a message "welcome home" waiting on my phone :teeth: ).... As I'm writing this I'm thinking of a small BWV add on. Is there no help?

It gets worse as you get older-I have that kind of stuff happen to me all the time-something to look forward to :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hey Pa@okw95,

Guess you're right about more of that as we get older. I just don't want it to affect my DVC! ;)

Dumbest DVC moment, this didn't happen to me it happened to my then 60 year old dad.

We had just finished eating lunch by Stormalong Bay pool, seven of us total.
I took the kids and headed back to our room to get them washed up. BILs went to the giftshop. DH stayed with my dad.
Dad was walking around the sand pool area, videotaping the pool area and resort.
He decided to walk backwards for some reason......................plop! SPLASH!! right into the pool he went, trying desperately to hold his Sony Handycam above water!
DH was laughing too hard to be of any help to poor dad!! And the lifeguards were just in shock......DH says they were just staring with their mouths open.
Dad ruined his cell phone, digital camera and yes, his Handycam.
Later in the room my mom was too busy laughing to be mad about the ruined gadgets.
And yes, my dad laughs about it now too.

I've had a few dumb DVC moments, here are two:

I went to BWV 5/04 with a Joan, a good friend of mine. We took Tiffany towncar to BWV with the same driver I always use, Sid. When it was time to leave at the end of the trip I had to use the restroom, so my friend Joan waited with the luggage in the pick up area in front of BWV. I returned from the ladies room and....No one was there. No Joan, no luggage, no Tiffany, no Sid, just some other guy in another company's towncar waiting.

I am very puzzled. Where is everyone?? Finally in about 5 minutes Sid drives up, right on time. He and I say hi and I tell him about my dilemma--Still no Joan and no sign of luggage. A couple of minutes go by and Joan trots up saying "I had to go to the bathroom too, but don't worry the luggage is in the limo". WHAT LIMO??" I say, Sid JUST GOT HERE!" She gets this look of panic in her eyes and points to the limo that I had seen earlier.

We go over to that car and the driver refuses to give us our stuff, claiming he had my name down for pick up! I am starting to lose it now, saying "Show me my name in your log book" because I knew he was lying. Just then up walks the guy who had actually ordered that limo. Now that driver was more than happy to remove my luggage and give it to my driver, but without even an apology.

Joan told me that she was waiting with the luggage and the (wrong) guy asked her who she was waiting for. When she said my name (since I had made the ressie) he claimed he was there for me! What a liar! That's why she gave him all our stuff. Poor Joan spent the entire ride to MCO apologizing, but of course I told her to forget it, all's well that ends well. I did have some thoughts about her leaving all our stuff with this guy, and how it could have been a scam artist who disappeared with everything but I kept those thoughts to myself, why make her feel badly, especially since it all worked out.

Dumb moment #2--I gave a photopass person my cameras and sweater to hold last trip--at least I thought I did. She didn't grab onto the digital camera, she only had the sweater and the video camera. My digital camera, just out of warranty of course, hit the ground with a thud. It worked fine at first but the lens had trouble retracting and eventually it stopped working and I had to buy a throwaway camera for the remainder of the trip. The good news: The pics I had takene were still accessible, so I didn't lose 2 days of photos. AND my friends own a camera store and they felt so bad about what happened they are giving me a brand new updated model digital camera as a gift (yep, great friends they sure are!!) The ironic/annoying part--the shots that particular CM took were the absolute worst of any I had taken using photo pass. She shot into the sun and didn't use fill in flash, so I am shadow in all the pix she took.
