dumb VOLM question

Ok, be prepared because I cannot believe that I am actually asking this as it's probably a 'you couldn't figure that out yourself' moment here. In the Voyage of the Little Mermaid, it's obviously a track being played when she sings but is it the Ariel actress that's on the stage singing or some other random person? I don't know why I've been wondering that since my last Disney visit and my mom didn't know when I asked during the show. She laughed and suggested I ask the Dis!

Yes, Ariel is a real actor's voice; you can see the role listed on Disney's casting call list.

My husband and I had this very argument. He's sure she's lip-synching. I thought she was really singing. Guess I win.

We made the mistake of sitting up in the front row. It was great because you could really tell Ariel is singing (you can hear her!) but you can't see the rest of the show as well because you miss some of the puppets who are low on the stage. We LOVE this show!!!
