K so I have a castle and I want to a cowboy mickey mouse on there so it looks like he's pointing to the castle....the icon of the mickey i have is in a white background...how do I make the background so it's transparent...I tried the opacity thing and it basically makes the whole thing disappear? Help please?

Use layers and have the pointing Mickey on top. Or you can use your magic selector to select the castle and copy and paste it into a new image with a transparent background. I can't remember a way to make the background transparant on an image that is already saved in PS CS, but there may be a way. It's an amazing program, unfortunately a little pricey for me :(

I use PS Elements. In that program you use the Magic Eraser to turn a background transparent. I "find" it by right clicking on the eraser button in the tool box.

Thanks Dom! I never knew that was there. It will be a lot easier than what I am doing now.

Thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much!
I'm only using a trial version trying to figure things out....if I can't figure things out then I'm going to have to try and learn a whole new program:badpc: althought when DBF finds out the cost of it I might have to find a new program anyways:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Oh my gosh! Thank you so much Dom! I didn't know about this either and I've been using the magic wand tool to select the background and then "cutting" it away. You just made my life so much easier. Thank you.

I want to use this...

is there a way to just select the white in the background or do I have to "color" in for lack of a better term with the background eraser thingymabob...and thank you everyone so much for your patience and for answering my questions while I try to figure out this program:hug:

Kari we're now even. LOL. I did not know about the Stroke tool and was using layers and other tricks to get outlines of things. That added an entire new dimension to my work!

Angielou1079, I assume you got it to work from your response in the other thread. If you're still having problems let me know and I'll turn it transparent for you.

Add me to the list of WOW!!! I had no idea that was there!!!! THANK YOU so much! I was also using the magic select and cutting the image out! WOW, this is going to be SO much better :worship: :worship: :worship:
