We aren't getting park hopper BC we are just planning to do one park a day, but if for some reason the kids aren't liking a park and we want to go to a different one, are you able to burn a day on your ticket or is it truly limited to one a day? For example, if we have a six day pass, use two of our park day passes on one day and only have four left?

Not a dumb question - but definitely one of the most frequently asked here. You CANNOT use two days on a non-hopper ticket in one day. If you don't have a hopper - you are limited to one park per day. (And from a $$$ perspective - you can see why Disney does it that way. All days after the 4th are just about $10 per day so many people who wanted to hop could just buy a couple extra days at a lower cost than the hopper add on.)

Right. And although it's technically $10 per day after the 4th I still recommend looking at how much you're paying per day to get the real cost (divide by # of days)

Not a dumb question - it gets asked a lot! This is the way I explain it: you're not purchasing a specific number of "entries" into a park. You're purchasing a specific number of "days."

Your base ticket is a certain number of "days." Each "day" of your ticket is assigned to a specific day (whatever day you pick), with one park for each day. You can't "use Tuesday and Wednesday" on the same day, because your Tuesday day of your ticket can only be used on Tuesday, and Wednesday can only be used on Wednesday. Does that make sense? So without paying the $60+ for a hopper, you're limited to one park per day, period.

Exactly as stated above.

You don't have to decide about hopper ahead of time though. So go with your no-hopper plan, but then if you want to hop you can add it on at that time. (Same fee for full trip no matter when you add it though.)

If its just 1 day, which park are you going to? I would guess MK and leaving there for a partial day elsewhere is probably not worth the time

I see everyone above has answered your question but if your kids do truly get bored at one of the parks, you could always go back to the resort for activities, visit Disney Springs or play mini golf at WinterSummerland.

No. The turnstiles don't let that happen.

Agree with everyone here. I also saw several reviews on Trip Advisor where the reviewer was really upset that they thought they could go to another park using another ticket after exiting the original park instead of purchasing the Park Hopper and of course they gave extremely low rating due to that.

It really has no relevance how much you paid per day. If you bought one park per day tickets, that's what it costs. It is more, not a lot really, if you want to be able to go to more then one park, just once or every single day. Honestly, when you look at the overall price of going to WDW, the park hopper is a very good deal.

I could be wrong, but I believe you can still add hopper tickets once you're there if it comes down to it. Then you would be adding them to whatever is left instead of your whole stay which would probably save you some money.

That said, I think for the most part they will probably be satisfied all day in just about any park. If they aren't, it would be a good day to check out some of the other things WDW has to offer such as Disney Springs or go resort hopping. If its early in the day and nice enough you could hang out at the pool or do one of the water parks (though if budget is on your mind that may cost too much).

One of the things I miss about WDW in the 80s is really enjoying the resort. When there were two parks we didn't feel like we were missing out on much when we did the pool or went out on the boats are something. With 4 parks it is easy to feel like this depending on the length of stay.

^ This is correct.

It costs the same whether you add it now or on the last day you use your ticket.

Thanks for clarifying that. I gave up on hoppers long ago (I wasted too much time going from one park to another) so I wasn't sure.

What I would give to be able to hop just 1 of the 3 days of our NYE trip! It'll be our first trip recently without hoppers & those things can spoil you so much!

Yes, you can always add the Hopper when and if you need it. I know that could be expensive, but it is the only way to do more than one park in a day.

This was going to be my suggestion. There's SO much to do outside the parks. A monorail crawl, exploring the Boardwalk, etc. Or if there's a particular park you have concerns about plan it for mid week when you might be ready for a break. Then if you leave early you can head back to the room or relax at the pool to rejuvenate yourselves. :)
