Dumb question- guides?

I'm a bit embarassed to ask this as I think I'm supposed to know.

I keep reading about everyone raving about this guide or that guide. Um... How do I know who my guide is? Is this the person who sold us our DVC? WE had a team of two people and I'm not sure which one it would be.

I feel I've missed a vital piece of info. My only excuse is that after years of begging, pleading, and finally demanding I was in a state of shock when we actually bought our DVC.

We already have a ressie for the spring but I did that online, so I never actually spoke to a human. May try to get waitlisted at the 7 month mark and it would probably be good if I knew who I was supposed to speak with.

Feel free to mock. :rotfl:

I have never heard from my guide except when I initiated our AKV add-on. You only need to call Member Services to switch your reservation to another resort. Now those are the people (MS) who I would like to be friends with! :lmao:

Your guide is only relevant when purchasing. Everyone raves about this guide or that guide as they are the ones providing them with add-ons (sales staff). Anyone buying an add-on is elated to begin with so they love their guide by default. You didn't miss anything and I wouldnt even be concerned with who your guide is unless you caught the add-on-itis bug already and even then, trust me when I say, they will find your guide and inform you as to who has been assigned your account in order to expedite the add-on purchase for you (... or should I say, for them).

Just so you are aware, when you call for reservations you are dealing with Member Services, not your guide.

No mocking. An easy way to find out who your guide is, look at the emails that you get from DVC (I got one this morning) right below where it says "Welcome Home *****Family" it says "your guide is Robert Shapiro" and the phone #.

As has been mentioned, you don't need your guide unless you want to add on. To make/change reservations, just call MS (Member Services). :goodvibes

Thanks so much to everyone for clearing that up. I do hope to add on but don't feel like I know enough to negotiate those waters just yet. But one day, oh yes, one day...
