We plan to spend the morning at Animal Kingdom. My oldest and I really feel we can't be "this" close to SWW and not check it out at least (she mostly wants to shop), the rest are going to chill at the resort. Anyway, do we need to catch a bus from AK to another stop and transfer to MK? Or is there a bus that goes directly to MK from AK? Thanks!

**that should say AK to DHS not MK!

Yes! Except between Epcot and MK. But you're not doing that, so... yes.

SWW takes place at HS, so why would you need a us to MK?

Oh, goodness....forgot you do have to make a switch at the ticket and transportation center from Epcot to MK. It's easier than it sounds! From AK to MK, it will be one bus.

I don't...LOL....sigh....my coffee hasn't kicked in yet, and I'm sitting here in the dark waiting for the sleepyheads to get their ***** out of bed!

There is "direct" transportation between all the WDW theme parks.
The frequency of departure for each is approximately every 20 minutes, give or take, all day long.

Most routes are via Disney Buses.

Here are the "park-to-park" Disney Transportation direct connections:

MK> Epcot = Monorail to TTC, Switch to 2nd Monorail to Epcot
MK> DHS = Direct Bus
MK> AK= Direct Bus

AK> DHS= Direct Bus
AK> Epcot= Direct Bus
AK> MK= Direct Bus

DHS> MK= Direct Bus
DHS> AK= Direct Bus
DHS> Epcot= Direct Bus (Epcot Front Gate) or Boat (Epcot Intl. Gateway)
......Boats ("Friendships") make 3 interim stops at the Epcot area resorts.

Epcot > MK= Monorail to TTC, Switch to 2nd Monorail to MK
Epcot > AK= Direct Bus
Epcot> DHS= Direct Bus (Epcot Front Gate) or Boat (Epcot Intl. Gateway)
......Boats ("Friendships") make 3 interim stops at the Epcot area resorts.

The buses have their destinations shown on them on illuminated signs.
The bus stops at the parks are also marked with signage.

As a rule-of-thumb, allow 40-60 minutes to get from the gates of one park to the gates of another park.

I didn't realise they put in busses that go park to park now. That is a great improvement. I remember when I was working over there, if we wanted to park hop without a car we'd have to get a bus to a resort and then to a park. I always thought it was a terrible system to transport guests without a car.

Anyway, glad they fixed it. :)

Been this way for at least 4-5 years. :thumbsup2

So just to verify, does the bus between AK and MK now go directly from one park to the other, without the necessity of transferring at the T&T center? Last time I transferred, a few years ago, you had to transfer at the T&TC. Same with MK to DHS. No T&TC there either?

Correct- No longer any TTC involved for bus park hopping. Only needed for Epcot/MK via monorail.

And although there's no bus between Epcot and MK, you can get a bus between MK and YC/BC (near International Gateway) to bypass the TTC.

This was made available with the most recent expansion of the MK bus terminal, Dorothy, over the past year.

What is the on bus travel time between AK and MK? someone mentioned a possible 20 minute wait between buses but how about the commute itself?

Fifteen minutes tops. It really doesn't take much more than 20 minutes to get anywhere on property via bus--the main variable is the wait for the bus.

No bus from any park to DTD.

When I was there in September of last year, they had a bus from AK to DTD. I believe the sign did say it was a temporary trial though. Have they stopped running this route now?
