Flying Delta, BTW from BUffalo through Atlanta.

Thanks!

Generally you are allowed one carry on, and one "personal item" such as a purse, briefcase, computer bag, etc.

Be careful with the 'personal item' though. Last summer I was flying back to Dallas from San Antonio. A lady had a little girl (about 9 or 10) with her and the little girl had a rolling carryon, plus a large, overstuffed backpack also on wheels. Obviously they were traveling with just carryons. The lady tried to say the little girl's backpack was a personal item, but the flight person was having none of it and told her one of the little girl's bags would have to be checked. She got very irate and held up the entire line from boarding for a few minutes, but finally gave one of the bags up to be checked. I was flying AA, by the way.

Also if the plane is full and you're seated in front (ie last to board) the overhead space might be too full to accomodate your roll-on, and they'll gate check it for you. You won't have a choice. So be sure that what you'll need for the flight and the first day are in your smaller carryon.
