Ok -- so I am a Disney planning novice! I've heard of Pleasure Island, Downtown Disney, and Boardwalk. Are any of them synonomous with another or are they 3 distinct parks? Which is best? What are the costs and best times to go? Any help/advice is appreciated. FYI -- We are staying offsite at Marriott Royal Palms. TIA! :D

Not a dumb question. Easy answer!

Pleasure Island (PI) is the bar district AT Downtown Disney (DTD). Downtown Disney is made of up of the West Side (DisneyQuest, Circa De Sole, lot's of shops and restaurnts), the Marketplace (on the east side, more Disney-oriented shopping like Pooh Corner and the lego store, plus restaurants like Fultens and Rainforest Cafe), with PI stuck right in the middle. It's all together a fun place, with lot's of free stuff, and some nice (slightly pricey) diversions from the parks.

The Boardwalk is a shop and restaurant district in the rear of Epcot, part of the Resort complex that includes the BC, YC, and BWV. It's made to look like turn of the century Jersey Shore. They have bars, restaurants, street performers, a dance club, and the infamous Surreys. Make sure one doesn't plow into you while you're walking around. It's a great diversion while you're at Epcot and need to get out for a while. It's also a great alternative nighttime activity.

Costs: For PI, it's around $20 to get in (opens at 7 at night), plus whatever you eat and drink. DisneyQuest (an interactive theme park) is around $30 for a day. I have no idea how much Circa De Sole is (never had any interest), but it's the most expensive of the bunch. Everything else is pretty much a matter of how much food or stuff do you want to buy. Things like the Lego Store are both a shop and a free play area for kids. The Dance Club at the Boardwalk has a cover charge, but it isn't much. DTD comes alive late morning and runs until late at night. Boardwalk, except for some breakfast stuff and lunch, doesn't really come alive until mid-to-late afternoon, but it's still fun to walk in the morning hours.

Pleasure Island is a short walking distance to Downtown Disney but are pretty much connected to each other. Boardwalk is located on grounds of the Boardwalk resort. It is the food and shopping area.

Hope this helped some.

No such thing as a dumb question . . . if you're wondering, others are wondering, too!!

Here's a link for good information about P. I. :

And here's some info on the Boardwalk:

Sometimes it helps to see a few pics!! Keep comin' back to these boards, and you'll be amazed at how fast you'll become a self-taught Disney expert!!

One note: You can actually get into PI from DD for free before 7, but none of the clubs will be open (a few shops may be) and if you stay in there after 7 and don't go back and pay and get a wristband, you still won't be able to enter the clubs.

But if you are just curious, you can absolutely go in there before 7 and walk around to check things out for free.

Angie,

I don't think so...unless I'm wrong, I believe I've read both here and on Mouse Ears that they shut it down during the day a couple weeks ago. The gates are now up until 7 PM, no afternoon touring. Can anyone verify that?

Effective march 22rd PI will no longer be open in the morning and afternoon will open at 7 pm. I went to PI on that Friday (3/21)Afternoon just for this reason!! during that time 3/22-3/30 PI was free from 7pm -9 pm don't know if this is still in effect!!
