I have seen so many recipes using this. Can it only be found (to purchase, not to make) during the holidays? I know it's a traditional holiday cake, but can you buy it yearround?

The only place I have found it is Williams-Sonoma.com and it's $35. Anyone know where else I can find it, preferably a little cheaper?

Wegmans has them. I don't know if that helps you or not, but I've seen them there for a few weeks.

I think I saw them at BJ's as well.

I know meijers has them at the holidays, but its not something they sell year round. I think they run in the $5-10 range.

World Market and Super Target have them here.

Thirty-five dollars for a panettone! :scared1:

My Neapolitan grandmother just turned over in her grave.

At this time of year, you can get it in most supermarkets, Italian markets, Target, WalMart, Sam's, even Marshall's. I don't know if you can get it year round as I've never looked for one.

Btw, homemade panettone is wonderful, but it is a real pain to make.

If you look in Wal Mart in the aisle where they have holiday food type gifts (like cocoa sets and sausage trays and stuff) they have them there. And they are like five bucks. Seriously, $35? :rotfl2:

They must hand-carry them over from Milan one at a time! :lmao:

$35? Wow.

I have never seen one for more than $8. They are in all the supermarkets around here.

Like bananiem said "World Market" has them in two sizes. The little ones are I think $2.99 each which would be great just to try and the large ones are either $7.99 or $8.99 each. I also saw the $35.00 ones at Williams-Sonoma. I think I might pick one up myself because I too have seen the same thing and have been really curious as to what they taste like.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!
