My family is scheduled to go on its first Western cruise next summer. So far, we've done two Eastern cruises. We've been in rooms 8078 and 8080 for those. We've loved being on that side of the ship, especially since my youngest son loves watching the tractors/gators/vehicles unloading the ship when it gets to Castaway Cay. (I do know that sometimes the ship backs in there, and sometimes it goes straight in to the dock.)

I've seen questions before in regards to what side of the ship is more favorable to be on, because of the views. I wondered why someone asked that, as I would just enjoy being on the ship. But then I got to wondering since we've not visited any of those ports if there was a difference. I think maybe I'm analyzing our cruise too closely, but would enjoy anyone's input.

Thanks in advance.

You already know about CC.. The other ports you may be tendered, never heard of them tendering in Key West, but the other ports do. Just relax & count down the days...

WE've always sailed starboard (right side opposite side that you've sailed) and personally it was the BEST for the Western. We were on the side next to the dock in Key West, so had a view of the island. In Cayman, we were the side that faced the island (since you tender). And in Cozumel, on the side that faced AWAY from the dock towards the island. That was important, because if you were on the port side, you faced the Grand Princess on the other side of the dock!! YUCKY view IMO. Of course in Castaway Cay we faced the family beach since we backed in. Now, that is just my experience and we probably will take the Western again in 2006 and will book starboard again.

We always sail portside, and found for most ports that is the best.

When at key west..we can enjoy the famous sunset from our balcony.

Tender in grand cayman..so no big deal there.

Thanks to you all -- anyone else with an opinion? :flower:
