I recently booked a vacation package prior to reading about how that is not the best thing to do. I booked the hotel and 5 day park tickets. Now i see that the AP is the same price as the 5 day tickets. Can i upgrade before we go to AP or can i do it there or am i out of luck?

You really should just call them. Although people mean well, you may not get accurate answers on a message board.

Why do you want to upgrade before you go?

You’ll absolutely be able to do it there.

As for packages not being the best thing to do, even I never mean it as a blanket statement.

It’s not always the best price and it definitely puts restrictions on changes and cancelling that room-only doesn’t.

But as long as you know you got a good total price, know what the package is giving you vs what room-only would have given, and read the terms and conditions, that’s not a bad thing.

I just thought it would be easier to book together - the room and tickets. We haven't been to Universal in quite some time and i did some reading here and most people say to do it separate. I am fine with the price as it basically would have been the same. But now that i know about the AP price, i am locked in as far as canceling as we go in a month.

I wanted to upgrade to AP before we go because we would like to go before we actually arrive at our hotel. We have a day we can go before and then we move to a volleyball tournament, then we go back to universal. So, i thought we could upgrade to AP before we go, arrive on Friday, to to universal, then go to the 5 day volleyball tournament, then go Royal Pacific for the rest of our stay. I don't know if that makes sense. So, you are saying, we could go when we arrive to customer service and upgrade the tickets we have to AP's?

They absolutely allow upgrades if tickets to APs. Just like at Disney.

But I don’t know if you can pick up the tickets before checkin day. That’s the bigger question. That one might be worth a call.
