Dumb Laundry detergent vent

My husband told me that you could also slightly loosen the screw on lid while the bottle is laying down and that would help keep it from leaking. For the life of me I can't remember why, some scientific mumbo jumbo.

I just don't like the design of these bottles and will not buy them again. Once was enough!

I just don't use the cap at all. And I tilt it back up (spout on top) when not in use. No leaking and no mess (unless I'm not paying attention and spill -- which happens way to often, but that is another thread...)

I just throw the cap in the machine with each load. It comes out nice and clean and ready to go for the next one!

That's what I do. And when it accidentally goes into the dryer, it doesn't melt or anything. :thumbsup2 I can't tell you how many times I've tossed them in the dryer with the clothes.

All these years, why didnt I think of that!

Maybe you were just too busy trying to find the dye for your beard that exactly matches your hair. It can be difficult with all those optiuons out there :lmao:

I have 3 or 4 smaller bottles that I refill with the larger bottle of Tide that I buy in Sam's Club. I don't have a convenient place to keep the larger bottle so I could dispense it as meant to do and it's easier to fill my washer from the smaller bottles. I have a bookshelf in my laundry room/office that is used to store all of the laundry bottles.

I never thought to wash the cap with the laundry. I might do that if it was more convenient for me to use the detergent straight from the large bottle.

It's the air pressure. Air needs to get into the bottle to displace the liquid that you tapped out. Otherwise the pressure inside the bottle gets too tight and air forces itself via the tap and then some leakage will occur when the pressure is righted again.

That may be the reason behind the posters having issues with drips - just loosen that smaller cap on the top of the bottle (top when the bottle's laying down)
