Dumb carry on question

I have either, travel sized bottles of shampoo, etc. or empty 3oz travel bottles to put liquids in. We're trying to do completely carry ons so we don't have to check any luggage.

My question is, the sunblock I have, the only one that my son hasn't broken out in a rash from, is in a 4oz tube. Will they let that thru? Or should I empty some in one of my 3oz bottles & hope it's enough for the trip?

Remember you're not limited to one 3 oz bottle. You can have as many as fits in the quart bag.

Remember each person with a ticket gets to have a quart sized 3-1-1 baggie. You can fill a bunch of 3ozl bottles with sunblock, as long as they all fit into one of the baggies.

Another option is to ship some to the resort. If you have a bunch of stuff and are stressing about having room, that may work too.

The actual size limit of the bottles you can bring is 100 ml (which is 3.4 oz.) You can not bring a 4 oz. bottle on the plane with you - even if you pour a quarter of it out first.

Your only options are to check a bag, put it in 3.4 ounce bottles (they must be clearly labeled with the size, btw,) buy it when you get there, or mail it to yourself at the resort.

So, it's 1 quart sized bag per person, not per suitcase? We have 3 of us traveling but only 2 carry on sized suitcases.

Another dumb question, sorry..I've never not had a checked bag!

The quart sized bags with my shampoo, etc., do I need to make sure my makeup is in there as well? & do my meds go in the same bags?

makeup... yes

meds... no, they can be outside the bag and claimed separately.

The TSA site is really informative; but anything liquid, gel, paste - goes in the quart bag. Solid makeup doesn't. Medication can go in a separate bag, be prepared to show it.
