I’m not a cook. When I do attempt to cook, I’m the type of cook who realized only last week (at 23) that the reason I keep burning my food, is I am putting too much sauce/too early. Who knew sauces such as soy-ginger burn? So… Today, I made the big purchase of a barbeque. It was a big move. Now, of course, I have some really stupid questions, that I figured I’d be a little less embarrassed to ask the DIS then my friends.

Question 1: Where does one buy gas/propane, whatever the heck it is? I looked at Target and there weren’t any.

Question 2: Where does everyone store their bbq related tools? (ie: the spatula and prongy thing). In the kitchen or the on the bbq?

Question 3: How does one bbq?

:thumbsup2

Question 1: Where does one buy gas/propane, whatever the heck it is? I looked at Target and there weren’t any. Try looking in your phone book for places. You should be able to find a company such as a gas company that you can bring your propane tank to and they can fill it up for you.

Question 2: Where does everyone store their bbq related tools? (ie: the spatula and prongy thing). In the kitchen or the on the bbq? We keep ours in the kitchen, but there are also sets that has cases, so after you are done using them, wash and store them in there.

Question 3: How does one bbq? There are many different things that you can bbq, so my suggestion would be to grab a cookbook and experiment. See what flavors you like, meats, fish, chicken, seafood, vegetables...

And as for your soy-ginger mixture is it a teriyaki glaze/mix? If so, the sugar that you have in there will make it burn faster so keep a closer eye on it.
Enjoy your new grill and grilling outdoors this spring and summer.

Before all else, I recommend this thread:

I have heard that the guy who started it really knows what he is talking about. :thumbsup2

1. Propane can be bought at TONS of places... KMart, Walmart, UHaual stores... just tons of places...

2. Wherever you want. I actually have a cabinet next to my grill and smoker.... TWO ENTIRELY DIFFERENT things....

3. How does one BBQ? :goodvibes

When you need SPECIFICS, just send me a PM.

BTW, as the above poster said, sauces that have high sugar content will burn when exposed to high heat. If you want a sugary sauce you need to add it at the end and keep an eye on it.
