Look at this:

http://www.oaklandtribune.com/Stories/0,1413,82%7E1726%7E2428344,00.html

What do you think?

When I first read it I thought " catching people breaking the law is discrimination?" If you drive without a license and insurance your breaking the law.

I know that the article goes on to say that California refused the law that would allow illeagal immigrants a license but does'nt that make sense not allowing them to obtain a license. I mean turning your head to allow them to break the law (illegal immigration) so you wo'nt have to turn your head to allow them to break the law (driving w/o license and insurance)

So illegal immigrants want non-discrimination rights? That's rather ridiculous.

Illegal immigrants have been on the front pages of NJ newspapers "demanding" college tuition subsidies.

NY is requiring all drivers to have a valid Social Security number. When you go to renew, you have to show your Social Security card. So illegal immigrants are complaining about that too.

"They should not be driving on our streets without a license, without insurance. I expect the Oakland Police Department to do its job and get them off the street."

Amen

This is a joke thread, isn't it??

Nope it's not a joke. Illegal immigration is so bad in this country that the government is trying thier best not to enforce it. If anything is done against illegal immigration it's considered racism. Personally I feel every time an illegal alien is found they should be deported. But right now that's not PC.

grrr...

I have no problem with people comming here legally. I think it's great, in fact! Hey, all of us come from someplace else, far be it for me to deny the same oprotunity to someone else.

But you sneak into this country (breaking the law), drive without a DL or insurance (2 more laws), and they must be working to afford the car and the gas (breaking yet another law, with the help of a US company, shame on them). But pulling them over at DUI road blocks, we're violating their rights?

Excuse me. What rights? If they don't like it they can hop the next bus/boat/plane back to where ever it is they came from! Now, this is partly OUR fault for letting it come to this, but the nerve of protesting!

People complain about 'BIG BROTHER' and that government and law enforcement is becoming too intrusive. However, it is the criminal element in our society that brings on this type of change in our governement, law enforcement, and our lifestyle. The criminal element rules; whether we like it not!

Wow, this makes me angry. If you are legal or not and you are caught driving without a license, your car should be towed. Driving is a privilege, not a right. I don't care if you are white, black, latin, green, blue, or purple, if you do not have a license and insurance, you should not be driving. And if you are above the legal BAC, then you should not be driving either, regardless of who you are. And notifying the Latino community organizations of where upcoming checkpoints are going to be is just plain wrong. Maybe they should notify all the bar owners as well so they can tell their patrons which roads not to drive on if they don't want to get stopped for breaking the law.

INSANE!!!!
I first read this thread a few hours ago and I can't stop shaking my head!!!

Why doesn't their leader show them how to become law-abiding citizens of the United States? or give them directions to go back home? No - lets let them know when to avoid the LAW?

It is not discrimination to ask that EVERYONE (regardless of race, color, religion, etc.) adhere to the rules of the USA if you want to be here!!!

Follow ALL the rules of this country or face the penalties. And the penalty should be immediate deportation!!!!

Alaska just took social security #'s OFF the license in the past year or so. They said it was too easy to get someone's SS#.

I think that's supposed to be the other way around - it's a privilege, not a right.

You haven't see anything yet. Mark my word, in the coming years you will see an increase in illegals and breaking of laws that you can't imagine. We have many public figures who want NO control on the number of Mexicans coming into this country.

When Gov. Schwarzenegger was planning a trip to Mexico, several members of our state legislature went to the mexican senate and ask them to lobby the governor to sign the bill that would grant the licenses to the illegals. Fortunately, he vetoed the bill but, it really shows who our state legislature is working for.

There are laws, and then there are laws. Right now our economy needs the illegal immigrants to work the jobs that no one else wants, which is why LE turns the other cheek on enforcement.

i could not agree more and i truly do not understand anyone who is in favor of granting illegal immigrants rights (other than basic human rights afforded to all of mankind of course).

personally, i think national security is much more important than the economy.

I'm having trouble getting past the title of this post. "Drivers without licenses" - isn't that a paradox? Is that the correct word? My brother was found driving on a suspended license and he went to jail. I'm beyond amazed that anyone can scream discrimination and the world goes a little nutty.

Of course this is California though. Wasn't it in Ca not too long ago that there was a proposal on their ballot to allow for free medical services to illegal aliens? I think it is Ca that is also against having to verify you are who you claim to be when voting. I hope Arnold takes on some of this crazy stuff.

Of course we do not need illegal immigrints to work in jobs nobody else wants. You can argue that we need laboers for various industries, but legal and controlled immigration is the answer. Legal immigrints pay more in taxes, which is a good thing because they are also in need of social services, which we give tot hem, legal or not. So, better make them legal and collect taxes. Further, if they are illegal , it leads to secrecy on their part and they are unlikely to report abuse and exploitation by employers. If they are legal they can complain when someone tries to make them work 20 hours a day for $3 an hour with no benefits.

I will never understand the arguement that we need illegal immigrints. It makes no sense what so ever.
