Dues Question

Not sure if this is where I should post this but here goes anyhow...
Last March I purchased DVC direct from Disney. After I made my payments(paid in full) I recieved a bill for the pro-rated dues for the remainder of my UY. When can I expect the bill for the Dues to come? I know that they are "due" on January 15th with a bit of a grace period(you don't start paying interst or you account gets frozen if you don't pay exactly by Jan 15) What I want to know is when do those bill start getting mailed out?

They will be mailed out sometime in December. And, dues are based on calendar year, not UY. That is probably what you meant but just wanted to clarify.

And, yes, they are due January 15th but you are given until February 14th to pay without penalty. We use our Disney Visa and its closing date is the 10th so I pay it with that and then don't actually have to come up with the dues until March.

I do know that they will go up next year just in the fact that I will be paying for a full year rather than a half of a year. Unfortunately we as Canadian's aren't able to get a Disney Visa it is something that I think all Canadian DVCers would love to have!

I have always used the member website to view and pay for my dues as mail has over the years been delivered internationally by snail mail.

Since I mail in a cheque I will be waiting for the bill so to speak. I don't really want to get into paying by credit card since I get hit with the service fee on the conversion to $USD from Canadian.

We also use the DVC website to pay by credit card. Some of the cards didn't used to charge conversion fees, but now it seems that almost all have added back a foreign transaction fee.

Does anybody know if it is possible to pay the dues with American Express?

If you have a US bank account, you can have the annual dues charged monthly from your account.

I opened a free checking account at Suntrust at Downtown Disney and it wasn't a problem even without having a US address.

I then mailed DVC a voided check and they will start charging from my account next January. As they only charge 1/12 each month, I don't have to have the full amount of the annual dues in the account from the beginning and just can pay in some more whenever I want.

We also have opened a US bank account in the US. Our dues are paid monthly.
