Okay, i'm thinking of planet hollywood vs t rex and have a question about the theming. is t rex similar in noise level (and robots?) as rainforest cafe? what about plant hollywood?

DD can't stand the noise in rainforest, and robots freak her out... but i was looking at a trip report and the food from trex look tooo yummy to me... :confused3 just don't know about noise and possible robots. :confused3

any other DTD food suggestions? I want to be sit and be served that night, so no counter jobs... or buffets...

thanks in advance! :thumbsup2

Trex is quite loud, alot of kids are a bit afraid, the food is very good, maybe try it when she gets a bit older? Or you can maybe request to sit AWAY from any robots?

We love WGPE, while it is a CS the food is defanitely TS and they bring it out to your table on regular plates and silverware. Its one of my faves in DTD.

Both restaurants can be very loud.

T-Rex is within the same vain as Rainforest. They both have the same "stuff", just rethemed.

Planet Hollywood is just loud. They are not designer with much sound proofing in mind. When you get enough people in there, the noise just bounces and seems to magnify.

Raglan Road is nice, but it does have music and a dancer later in the evening. It can get loud as well, but not to the extent of T-Rex and Planet Hollywood in my experience.

Our favorite DTD restaurants are Wolfgang Puck Express and House of Blues. As PP mentioned, WPE is technically CS since you order at the counter but they bring your food out to you and they also get refills for you. The pizzas and mac & cheese are really good. We think the food at House of Blues is really good. We really like the ribs, mushroom pasta and steak. You can get a discount from restaurant.com and reservations are easy to come by since HOB isn't part of the dining plan. HOB had music playing but I don't remember it being too loud.

We've never done TRex or Planet Hollywood, so I can't comment about those.

Hi! T-Rex is really fun, and has great food, but it is really loud. If your DD can't stand the noise I wouldn't try it. I was worried about DS3, he has autism and can be sensitive to loud noises and flashing lights (which is T-Rex to a T - pun intended!), but he did really well and ate his whole lunch.

We haven't tried Planet Hollywood, from what I have read it's a cool place to see with standard fare food-but it's always fun to try something new. I don't have experience at any other DTD dining spot, if we are at DTD we tend to go to DTD b/c I have 3 boys and it is really right up their alley.

Have fun!

up-date I decided to give planet Hollywood a try because I wasn't very specific about noise, but loud conversations are fine, it is the robotic 'animals' and their noises that bothers her.

and glad your autistic son did fine, mine is due for an evaluation into possible autism, so the concerns are similar. She just *really* doesn't like robots. :confused3

Just to let you know- while the loud noise in planet hoolywood is some by the design they also have music playing fairly loudly all the time that seems to increase the volume of the conversation- I have never left without a headache because of the noise level.

Captain Jack's was a good and not as loud place at DTD. Fulton's is amazing as well- of course both of these are mainly seafood.

I have not been to T-Rex but there are reports that it is very loud. A child uncomfortable with loud noises probably won't like it there. If your child hates Rainforest she will really hate T-Rex.

T-Rex and Planet Hollywood are both mediocre in the food department - very similar, typical chain restaurants. T-Rex is owned by the same company as Rainforest Cafe so the noises/robots are practically the same. Def. good choice going with PH!

at planet hollywood we were seated in a little mostly-enclosed room with a table in it.. maybe ask for one of those? if we hadn't been seated there, i am not sure i could have tolerated the noise level! it was very loud. but the food was good and we enjoyed it, esp. being in that little room - that really helped with the noise/craziness element.
