DTD - Shopping or Just Browsing?

Please tell me more about the Basins store I've seen mentioned. I've never been there to my knowledge and wondering if it's at the Marketplace. We buy most of the souvenirs at WoD. Like someone said they have everything and there's always a way to get a 10% discount. My most favorite store is Magnetron because I have a sick obsession with refrigerator magnets. I love that place! Fulton's and Portobello are two of my fav restaurants and so are Planet Hollywood and House of Blues but those two mostly for clothing. We tend to spend a lot of time in the clubs at Pleasure Island -mostly 8Traxx.
I'm willing to say that we spend 75% of our trip money all around DTD.

DeterminedOne, Basin is a store that sells bath soap, bath bombs and body butter. The place smells great! You can go online and check out their website. www.basin.com, but you really have to go into the store and experience it. They have bath bombs for the tub that smell great and some of them have confetti or a surprise in them. My favorite product is the sesame body butter that I put on my hands especially now in the winter. I never miss going there when we go to Disney.

We usually spend our first night at DTD. Do most of our shopping, eat dinner and go see Cirque. For us, it's a great way to start off our vacation.

We like to walk around DTD on our first or second day and see what new stuff is in the stores.

I usually buy stuff at WOD. And I like to get a Goofy's Glacier drink at Goofy's Candy Co. :drinking1

During our trip, we didn't have much money to spend, so we mainly window shopped. Though, for our next trip we'll be buying lots of gifts!

Little bit of both, really.

We always stop at the World of Disney, Basin (always stock up on their shampoo until the next trip!), Ghiradellis, 365 Days of Christmas, Pooh Store/Pet Store. We usually do a nice lunch, as well. On West Side, it's usually off to House of Blues, Disney Quest, or Virgin.

Where did you get your signature picture? I want to do a wall mural in my basement of something Disney, and I'd love to do that!!

I am not the person who posted with the picture in the signature, but I believe it is a lithograph that was available at World of Disney at the beginning of the 50th anniversary celebration. It was available with a $50 (or something like that) purchase, and was a limited edition.

I have one, and got one for a friend whose family loves Disney as well. It is an awesome picture. It has the characters and their "signatures" as well. I need to get mine framed and on the wall!

DTD is great for many things. You could spend an entire day - morning to night there - shopping, dining, movies, Disney Quest, etc. My DD and I are going to be alone on Christmas Day - and I think we might head down there. I won't step foot in the parks that day!

We go for shopping, eating and people watching. We make time to visit at least once during our trip, but usually end up going at least twice :teeth:

We generally just go to browse. We look in a few of the stores that we like and see what is new. It also gives us a chance to see what new merchandise is coming out and what items are being discontinued. Most of the time we can get out without spending too much.

I do both.

I browse a lot at the stores where I can't afford anything and usually buy my souveniers at World of Disney. Sadly on this past trip it was falling a flood in Downtown Disney and World of Disney was an asylum!!!

Basin is awesome. I love going in there for a bath bomb or two to relax in the tub at the resort with.

Their goat's milk complexion soap is excellent. I stock up whenever I'm there. It's very creamy and non-drying for my sensitive skin, especially in the winter.

We did a two trips to DD. One trip early in our trip to scope out what they had and what we wanted. And a second trip later on in our vacation after we decided what we wanted from the parks and what could be found in the World of Disney Store/the rest of DD.

Along with, it made sense for us to do most of our shopping at the World of Disney Store, because as that we are AAA members we got (I think) 20% off all of our purchases there.

How we spend our time at Downtown Disney...

One day lunch & shopping

One or two days dinner & shopping

Most nights shopping

 :cheer2: :cool1:

I browse for the most part. Well, that and eat. I'll buy 1 or 2 things at World Of Disney, but for the most part, I just love to walk around the stores, especially the Christmas one.

Mostly browse and walk around. If we shop, it is generally in the Virgin Store where we like to listen to the various CDs on headphones or check out the DVDs on sale. We like to get a coffee or smoothie at the Virgin Cafe on the second level and sit outside suspended above the shop with a great view of DTD.

Sometimes we'll take the boat from behind Cirque over to the other side (by Rainforest Cafe) and then just stroll and wind our way all the way back.

We'll sometimes get a bite to eat at Earl of Sandwich. We haven't been to the Irish Pub yet for fish n' chips, but plan to do that soon.

We are looking forward to someday seeing a concert at House of Blues, but so far we've missed the ones we want to see and whenever we are in town, there hasn't been anything that really appealed to us.

Susan
