DTD Sephora makeovers

Has anyone had this done, at the DTD location as of late? And if so, how did you like the results? Is it hit or miss, with skilled, talented make up artists? Is the quality of expertise a steady, constant? Also, M A C is a different brand from Sephora, but is it owned by the same company?

P.S. Anyone else notice that the font color cannot be utilized for posting a new thread, nor for one's signature? It does not work either for p.m.'s.

For MAC, I doubt it's owned by the same company because I've NEVER seen it in any Sephora store I've been in.

Yeah - MAC & Sephora are seperate entities but very comparable in product & price.

Haven't had it done at DTD...but did have it done at Vegas (& MAC in Nordstroms at home). I was happy with what I got but you need to be clear w/ what you like - MAC for instance can go crazy on the color so if you don't want Tigger orange eyes....be sure to say so!!

Yes. I've noticed the same. In fact, just now I tried to change it to see if it would work in a reply to you, and it wouldn't change. I got a small empty box pop up and that's it; nothing in it to change it to.

Hi, we have 2-3 sephoras here, and to be honest I found them to be rude when asking for help. I live in Hawaii so maybe dtd is different. I have been brushed off and ignored at the ones here. I went in for help with a make over for the show mama mia my husband was taking me to that night just last friday, and the manager found an empty box in the area I was looking for a shadow blending brush, and she rudely asked me if I knew what happend to it as if she was saying I took it. I was appauled at the way I was treated, and went to chanel at nordstroms where I know these wonderfull ladies who did a GREAT make-over for my first night out since my grandfather passing recently. She advised me to go back to the store get the ladies name. Well I found her, and let her know I was offended by her statements as I told her I was shopping for new brushes. She then tried to cover saying they had other people they were watching, and did not mean for me to think she meant me, but she still had a rude personality, and I even lat her know I would be happy to apply part time to lend a hand she said no they are in a freeze, and she kept pushing me to hurry up and go since I had an event to go to which didn't start for 4 hours. I have been blown off and felt like I was bothering them at both sephoras in 2 different malls. I'm writing to headquaters like my friend at chanel suggested, but I wont be going to their store until they get their act together. I will go to nordstroms, and other higher end places. Also becareful with MAC it's studio make-up, and can seriously cause allergic reaction if u have super sensitive skin.

I have done makeovers at two different Sephoras DTD and Hollywood and Highland. I have tried to get help at others (Pasadena's tends to be the worst for service) and sometimes the customer service is very hit or miss. I was lucky both of the people who did my makeovers listened to what I wanted (one was for day/night makeup, the other was for Halloween/Stage Makeup). Both really worked with me to find things I liked and they worked with me in regards to my allergies to animal hair brushes.

Yes, they can be pushy about selling product, but overall they weren't too bad (first was easy going the second was more pushy at H&H). It is after all their job to sell products. But in the end I knew what I wanted and didn't want from the two sessions and did buy what I liked and they were fine with that.

I have to say I love Sephora because of the options. With all the brands and products you really have so many choices. Which if you are taking a teen new to makeup is important since you both want to have products you are happy with and are age appropriate. Getting a make over there can be fun!

I agree that the Sephora management team at Ala Moana leaves something to be desired. Jen at the Nordstrom Chanel counter is one of the best!

MAC is owned by the Estee Lauder group, and Sephora is owned by LVMH (luxury conglomerate including Louis Vuitton). LVMH also owns Benefit, Makeup Forever, and a few other brands. Sephora does carry some Estee Lauder line (notable, Clinique), but you will never find MAC products in a US Sephora store.

Keep in mind that generally speaking, Sephora hires sales people and NOT makeup artisits. You don't expect a sales person in Banana Republic to be a fashion designer, stylist, etc. so don't expect your Sephora sales person to be a makeup artist. However, there are a few sales people who have been trained at the Sephora University and I would seek them out. (http://www.sephora.com/university/index.jhtml) They will have some sort of designation on their name tags.

I have done the one at DTD - they offer a special session for GCH guests before the store opens.

It was very nice. The staff there meets the Disney requirements for friendliness and they weren't pushy about products at all. (That may be because we paid $35 and got a gift card for $35 - they were guaranteed to make some money....)

I really liked my makeover and found it wasn't too heavy - just right. They will write down all the products they use for you to have as a reference in case you want to shop later.
