Do these resorts count as Disney hotels? I guess what I'm asking is do they qualify for the Disney perks, i.e., early morning entry and free parking at the parks?
I know that the DTD resorts do not qualify for the free parking at the parks and I think the Hilton is the only DTD resort to offer the EE to the parks. I think I read in an earlier thread that the Swan/Dolphin do qualify for early entry and free parking just like the onsite Disney owned resorts. Maybe someone will come along that knows for sure.
From my experience I would recommend staying on property if you can afford it. The DTD resorts offer good rates but its kind of like staying at any hotel and you don't get that "DISNEY" feel.
DTD hotels don't qualify for the same perks as on-site hotels. Hilton is the only DTD hotel to offer early morning entry....when I called a couple of months ago they added $40 per night to the room charge to add this option.
Swan/Dolphin are considered on-site properties. They qualify for the same perks as Disney owned resorts ~ except charging purchases to your room key.
