If so, I would REALLY appreciate some feedback. We are staying there the 2nd week in March because DH is attending a conference at that hotel. I was just reading some really awful, horrible reviews about this hotel on tripadvisor.com (dirty rooms, lousy service, etc.).

Is it really that bad? It wouldn't make sense financially for us to stay somewhere else since we are getting a special conference rate which is completely paid for by his business. But if it's no better than a roach motel we might consider going somewhere else. We are paying an extra $5 a night to stay in the Tower room so that we can see the fireworks at night. A few of the newer reviews on tripadvisor were more positive, so I wonder if they have made improvements?

Thanks for any feedback.

I disagree with all of the bad reviews IF they are talking about Tower Rooms as I've said a bunch of times already on this board.

I'm sorry that they obviously don't keep up the Courtyard or Patio Rooms, but we were very happy with cleanliness, spaciousness, customer service, and the water pressure/temperature. All of those are pet peeves of mine. We stayed on the 16th floor and will continue to book at that hotel. My SO has stayed at 2 other "Official" Disney resorts and he much preferred staying at the Grosvenor. That also has to do with being next door to DTD, too.

From experiences I've had in the past, some hotels do put you in the "Roach Motel" rooms if you've booked at priceline or other places that allow you to get rooms at less than their cost to keep them up. I'm sure some do not though.

We enjoyed the selection at Crumpets Cafe- it's like a little 24 hour store/deli and had a pretty good sandwich at the restaurant. Other than that, we dined at DTD and the parks.

Please feel free to email me or PM me if you'd like specific questions answered that you don't want to post.

In defense of ALL the bad reviews, this hotel is not worthy of onsite status. We paid $32.00 per night with a special through the hotel directly and HATED it. If you like old, musty, dirty, moldy rooms, this is the hotel for you. I don't want to sound nosey, but what is your conference rate? This hotel is not worthy of a rate of more than $20. per night. There are many new hotels in the area that are within minutes of the Grosvenor. pirate:

I agree with familyoffive, I don't think I would stay their again for free! Also, I met some friends there on our last Vacation, I wasn't impressed with their room. To many other choices in the World.

I stayed at the Grosvenor in a "tower" room and it was, by far, the worst hotel I've ever been to. The room was terribly dirty and we left after 2 days on a prepaid reservation. I would steer very clear of the grosvenor.

It saddens me to hear such horrible experiences at the Grovsenor Hotel when ours was so wonderful! I guess my question to all of the negative responses would be: Did any of you stay in the Tower Rooms besides Tink? The majority of the Hotel is the Tower and from what I've read so far, it appears that everyone is staying in the Courtyard/Patio rooms.

Please help clear this up for me.... I believe it might help other travellors too if they knew that the Hotel as a whole is not the "Pits." Especially since it is the absolute closest to DTD with only 1 street crossing and is part of the Disney transportation system.

Wow, it seems that people either love the Grosvenor or hate it! We loved it! Our room was wonderful. It was bigger than a Disney moderate, and having the fridge (at no extra cost) in the room was a plus! It was very clean, had good water pressure and the service was great too. And the location is wonderful. It's literally just a walk across the street to DD! Just a good experience all around. Of course, we didn't pay a discounted price...just booked over the phone, but I don't expect that should make a difference.

I stayed there Dec. 2002 and we liked it. We also had a Tower Room. The room shows wear and tear and seemed to be needing upgrading but it was very clean and larger than the average hotel room, also comes with a nice sized refrigerator. I have pictures online if you'd like to see them, email me and I'll email you some (I don't know how to link them to here, sorry). Everything in the room was working and the staff couldn't have been nicer. We enjoyed breakfast there twice (not the buffet, a la carte) and it was very good, pricey but good. We got a special rate of $39 and I think it was well worth it. We even used the bus service and found we liked it better than the Disney Transportation, they do run less often but we were never left at a park stranded nor did we ever stand and Grosvenor is the next to last stop! Hope this helps you.

I know somebody staying there this upcoming weekend. I believe they are only staying there 1 or 2 nights though. I'll find out what they thought of the hotel and post here late next week once I find out.

I got one more thing to say about this place. The Grosvenor is a ok Hotel, it is nothing special. But, it will work if you get a good rate $30.00 or less. The people that love this place, please don't mislead new people to Disney, that this place is all that great, because it's not, but if your on a budget go for it. Just remember you get what you pay for!

My first trip to Disney was at the Grosvenor in January of this year, so I don't feel like I'm misleading anyone- FYI... My SO has stayed at 2 Official Disney Resorts and we have travelled to many destinations around the world staying in moderate to very "foo foo" hotels and resorts. He favored the Grosvenor as well.

Once again- our Tower room was spacious, had a refrigerator, was spotless including the bathroom, had lots of storage, great view of the fireworks at Pleasure Island, had plenty of hot water and pressure, and was only a 3-5 minute walk to DTD depending on where you wanted to go.

We paid about $80 per night and it was a bargain as far as I'm concerned!!! Not sure of the exact price, cuz we got a full package directly from the hotel website including the UPH's, but that's a guess. I must say that I have been disappointed in the past with ANY room I've ever booked through Expedia or Priceline. When I stayed at the same hotel at other times, my experience was much different though. Not an excuse for the hotel, but my reality from personal experiences. You get what you pay for I suppose.

We couldn't have been happier with the customer service at the hotel from the front desk, to the pub, to the maids, to the cafe worker and I'm in the Hospitality Industry working for exclusive private clubs.

My suggestion- book a Tower Room and have a wonderful trip to Disney! Oh- and don't forget that the Grosvenor has Character breakfasts twice a week and a Murder Mystery Dinner on Saturday nights.

We will book the Grosvenor exclusively on return trips and I plan on returning later this year. Everyone enjoy your upcoming vacations :D

This hotel is a last option for most who can't find anywhere else to stay. As WDW onsite hotels go, this is the least upkept and welcoming hotel, IMHO. My prior stays have been at: CtydBM-DTD(4X), POLY, GF,WL,FW,DI(SOG),POFQ,MGV(offsite),RI(offsite),Sunspree(offsite),HI-Kissimmee(offsite-Larsens), and numerous others. I have family in Kissimmee and no one will stay at the Grosvenor. Our last stay there was so bad that they sent us a free night voucher that we could not give away. I will not return to this hotel again.

I booked at the Grosvenor for March 22-29 for me and my boyfriend at expedia and it was $900 total with airfare with all taxes and fees. Right now I don't know if this was good or bad. I admit I'm a little worried because of all of the bad reviews that I've read, but I've also read some good ones. I love Downtown Disney and it's so close so I think that is a big plus in itself....I'm not too critical about hotels. We stayed in the Dolphin one year and a Days Inn another. How much time you plan on spending in your hotel is a big factor too. I will let everyone know how it is there

Daiseyduck- if it's not too late, you may want to go to the Grosvenor website directly and look up their Tower Room specials that include the Ultimate Park Hoppers. I'm not sure what the rates are, but it's worth a shot if your reservations are at a refundable point.

If not, then I'd recommend requesting or "demanding" a tower room upon check-in and previous via phone.

I loved being next to DTD, too- it was awesome!

Just read on the Passporter boards a rumor where this hotel may be declaring bankruptcy. For those staying soon, I'd have a backup ressie if I were you!
