She wanted to let me know when Cameron comes home today he will have a red mark on his face because he got hit by another little boy at the playground. Hes fine and they put ice on it, but there may be a mark.
So, now I want to know WHAT happened! Was Cam in a fight? With who? Was it an accident? Was someone giving him a hard time and hit him(his friend/our neighbor does have a tendency to get physical like that at times) I was in such shock with the phone call, I didnt even ask anything. She did mention that the principal is following up on it, but that could mean anything too. He could be checking to see that it was in fact an accident, or I could be getting a call saying hes in major trouble. And yes, this is the kid who brought home the Star Of The Week Award last week.
Ohhh, this is going to be a long 13 years!

I have to agree with Mermaid.
I would at least call them back.

Could be totally innocent, got hit by a ball or a kid running past him, but Im nuerotic about that stuff. When theyre this young at leats. Good luck and let us know what happens :)

LOL, ratsrule!
Thanks for the advice.
The story I got was that Cam was putting something in his mailbox(I guess it wasnt at the playground, maybe I just assumed she said that???) and this kid(one I hadnt heard of before) went to put something in his mailbox and he just hit him. I gave Cam the third degree, did you say something, did you push infront of him, etc... and he claims he didnt. So, I will probably write a note to the teacher just to verify that Cam didnt do anything and then let it go. If it becomes a habit, then Ill look more into it.
Cam claims it doesnt hurt but he does have a nice red mark on the top of his cheek bone under his eye. Its probably about an inch around and looks like it could turn into a bruise/black eye. I didnt realize kindergarten could be so dangerous.

OMG! Are they going to suspend the violent one?;) Who knew kindergarten could be so tough!!

Our school would not be allowed to reveal who
hit your son. I think it's a really stupid law but
I'm sure it's a liability issue.

Sorry shortbun but, that's absolutely insane!! Liability my butt! What secretive rights does the school have over who strikes my child?!?! Sorry, that 'law' really upsets me.

Camcolt, I hope your DS is ok real soon. You're right, it's gonna be a long 13 years! Who'd a thunk it would start so soon though, huh??

People today are nuts. Just look at all the people getting murdered over stuff like the Jerry Springer show. If your kid hit another, for whatever reason, you might have a psycho parent harassing you or worse!

Besides, wouldn't your kid tell you himself who hit him?

Im not sure if thats a rule here or not, but the teacher just said "another little boy", or something like that. DS told me who it was, but I hadnt heard of this kid before. He has a few kids in his class from preschool last year and Ive heard a few new names being thrown around, but this was the first Ive heard of this kid.

Our schools would not say who hurt him either, they will also not say if/what actions were taken against the other child either.
From experience, I imagine that other child is being taken care of. It left a mark and in most cases the teachers, etc, have to do something.

How is he this morning Camcolt?

Hes doing fine. Theres barely a mark there now, and all along he had been telling me it didnt hurt. Maybe it was one of those "looks worse than it is" things.
Thanks for asking!:D

Katie,

Hope Cameron has a better day today!!

My son was pushed down and hit in the face the other day. I never received a phone call from anyone. The principal was involved, and apparently this child has hit other kids in the class before. I know my son's story is true, because #1 He can't lie for anything, and #2 His tattle tale twin sister is in his class, and verified everything.

I am a little perturbed that I was never informed.

Oh yeah, and the "Boys will be boys" theory is out the window on this one, because this incident involved a girl.

I'd be upset too Lauren.... and as far as "boys will be boys" That's a crock.... school is a different place now than it was 30 years ago.... bullies need to be taken care of from the beginning.
