DSL Internet Access Update

I just returned from BCV last night, I thought I would give a quick update regarding DSL internet access.

I called BCV and was told it was installed at BCV. I checked in, and reconfirmed that the routers were in the room.

I found the router in the room, hooked up, and could not get through. I called tech support, and was told that it is not working properly in all of the rooms at the Villas yet. The tech support woman was very kind and helpful. She told me that I could use the business office in the convention center at Yacht Club.

Long story short, I was able to get online over there - but beware... it is $10 for 15 minutes! However, there is wireless access in the lobby and by the pool. Unfortunately, I don't have a wireless card.

So - if you are planning on using DSL cable access for the internet, you may or may not have access in your room. Dial up may be your best option - or wireless in the lobby.

BTW - the rest of the trip was great - great weather and BCV was excellent. We had a nice view of the Illuminations fireworks every night. Room was spotless and the pool was great. Lots of people - but wonderful.

ktbugsmom;

Thanks for the update, info on this topic is scarce so every bit helps. By the way, did you happen to see what the DSL rates were for the in-room service? DW will need internet access during our Feb. '04 stay, and I'm wondering is there is anything cheaper than the wireless in the lobby. ($10.00/day)

Thanks ,

John

In room rates were $9.95 for a 24 hour period. After seeing the prices in the business center, I thought it was a total bargain!

Just got back on saturday from BCV.....had the same issue with using an ethernet connection in the room....some work some don't. I do have a wireless laptop though and found a strong signal in both the BC and YC lobbies as well as by SAB. The pricing is 9.95 for 24 hrs or 4.95 for 1 hr. I opted for that just because I wanted to replicate my Lotus Notes and have something to do on the plane on the way home. I didn't use it at all during the stay although I thought I might...I was too darn tired by the end of the day to even boot it up!
