DS16 job application--photo

DS16 is looking for his first job. He has a stack of applications on the kitchen table. I looked them over this morning and this is what I found on his Jack in the Box application.

Now not sure if it was just the "Parents" comment you found funny or that he put "Any" for position desired, because although having no opinion on what you want to do is not a good idea for professional jobs (due to showing lack of interest). For a minimum wage fast food type of job it is sometimes desired that they be willing to work at any station.

If it was just the parents comment that you were talking about though... I agree that is good. What was even more funny was my husband worked as an admin assistant for a small company that I also worked for one summer (I was programming for them) when I left he was the one collecting resumes and forwarding them etc. You wouldn't believe some of the things he found.

Teenagers crack me up! Between scholarship applications (I'm on several scholarship committees) and thank you notes for graduation gifts I've laughed myself silly a lot lately. I've also learned to demand to proofread my teen's stuff!

Here are some that come immediately to mind....

"I consider lifelong learning to be blahblahblahblah.... and hope to continue learning well into my 40's."

"this scholarship would enable me to not have to work this summer."

"thank you for the xxxxx. It is so much more personal than all the money everyone else gave me."

I have a friend in HR at a local water park, she was processing applications a few summers back, called me rolling
There was a section for the lifeguard training that was for parents and it said "anything we need to know about your child?"
One parents response.......Has no brain

I don't think I wrote it, but I could have written "mother" in place of "parents" on the application for the first job I got. She told me to to come home that day with a job OR ELSE, and I did!

Mmm, brings back embarrassing memories of a similar thing I wrote on a short scholarship application in grad school. Didn't get it! Wonder why.

He is totally honest, I doubt he has ever even told a white lie! He doesn't understand why I think it's funny, "It's the truth Mom" he said when I asked him about it. (he has Aspergers, he's a lot like Sheldon on The Big Bang Theory)

He's a very black & white thinker, which should help him reach his goal of becoming a computer programmer (this is also Dh's career). I can also see him sleeping on the couch more than once in his future....DS's future wife, "Do I look fat in these jeans?" DS, "Yep, You sure do!"

I'm saving the paper for him. Maybe one day he will understand why I put it on the internet for everyone to see
