for a fool for the last time!! I am so ticked right now!!
My ds10 gets migraine headaches, they kick up pretty bad at the same time the season's change. Three times this school year he has called me at work to come and get him because of headaches. Then when I get him home, he's fine and wants to know what we're going to do today. Well, last week I told him and his sister (6) both that the only way that I would come and get them is if they threw up and someone saw them thow up. (yes, i know, i'm a horrible parent, i can deal with it) Today, ds calls me at work and says he threw up. I said ok....where. In the bathroom....Nathan saw me. Ok...i'll be there in a few minutes." ok....so i tell my boss, put my stuff away, rush out the door, get to the school...he's laying down in the clinic....ok....no problem. He's not running a fever, but says he's nauseaous (sp). I go to the classroom to get his homework and talk to the teacher. She tells me that he came in this morning and told her he threw up and Joe saw him. Joe is not even at school today she tells me. I asked her about Nathan and she says how would Nathan see him, they are in two different parts of the building!! I told his teacher that from now on, if he says he's sick, too bad. he's gotta stay put. Not even going to go to the office anymore. the days of crying wolf are done!! i told her that if he was sick, then she would have to call me. she agreed.
Well, i go back to the van and son is sitting there looking all puney and pitiful. first thing i tell him is that i'm sorry you're sick....i guess we'll go home, have some toast and take a nap. he says, yeah, this show is on that i can lay down and watch. I said, oh no....you're sick, no t.v. no games, no nothing. you can sleep, then when you wake up, you can do your homework, then i'll make you some soup and you can go back to bed. his face just fell!! he says why can't i watch t.v. - i said because i don't believe that you are really sick and i'm tired of being played for a fool. i told him that if in fact you do throw up, then i apologize, but until then, i'm just not buying into it!!
he's back there laying in bed right now.....not sleeping, just looking P.O'd.
oh well!!
just venting...now i'm going to go rip my carpet out....may as well work out some frustrations huh?!

DSis fell for it way more than 3 times before she finally got wise. My niece is the biggest hypochondriac I've ever seen and I come from long line of them!!
You go , girl! You handled this exactly right. Make home as boring as possible--no reward for "getting sick". No TV, no games, no special treats, just laying in bed.(that cured my oldest son by 10:30a.m.)
DS (7) is learning quickly to ask the right questions when dealing with Daddy.
