Back on July 31st, DS (15) broke his leg. He fell off a mini Harley Motorcycle and broke 2 bones in his leg. He was at his Grandparents house in Colorado when it happened. We live in NJ. DH and I came home to a message on the answering machine. :earseek: The DR called us and informed us, that our son was on his way to surgery. He needed to have 2 flexable rods in his leg to hold his bones together. We were told that the rods would stay in for 6-8 weeks..

Ok so fast forward.. 15+ weeks later :faint: Tomorrow at 8 am he is FINALLY having the surgery to have the rods removed.. We need to leave here by 6 am because the hospital where the DR is at, is about an hour and a half away. We were told be there 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork...

"MoM" is a little nervous... DS is so happy they are coming out. For the past week every morning he comes down stairs for school and says 7 more days, 6 more days, etc..

can you PLEASE send some prayers and pixie dust our way for a quick, safe, successful, surgery and an even quicker recovery.. :guilty:

Thanks All... Mom is just being a nervous nelly...

Wishing the best for your DS. Prayers and pixie dust for the ordeal to end quickly. :wizard:

I hope everything goes well for your DS. He must be thrilled to be getting those rods out. Luckily kids recover very quickly. Sending prayers and PD your way.

Good luck with everything. My BIL was on my nephew's dirt bike 8 days ago and broke his leg in 3 places. He is still in the hospital because they haven't been able to close the wounds due to the swelling. If they can't do it tomorrow they are going to do a skin graft and he'll be in the hospital for at least 5 more days. I hope all goes well for your son.

Having a DS that was born with a bowed tibia we have been through 1 (orthopedic) surgery so far. Right now DS13 is in a cast for a broken wrist. Good luck tomorrow. :wizard:

What hospital are you going to?

We go to Pediatric Orthopedics in East Brunswick. They have another office in Little Silver. We go to Robert Wood Johnson hospital. Good luck.

:cool1: Surgery is OVER !!!!!!! :cool1:

The DR was not able to cut open his scars from the first surgery because the scars moved and stretched.. So DS has 2 new scars :guilty:

DS is doing very well, said there is hardly any pain and he decided he doesn't need to use his crutches again.. He will still use his walking boot/cam until Thursday next week when we see the DR for the follow up visit..

Thanks Again ALL
for the P & PD :wizard:
I always worry even when I know there is nothing to worry about..

I'm glad everything went well. I hope he continues to heal quickly.

Thanks for updating us. Good to hear that the surgery went well and it's done.

Hopefully, the scarring, if cause for concern, can be diminished.

Hope your boy hasa quick, full recovery. Good wishes coming his and your way.

Prayers and pixie dust on the way for a quick recovery!

I'm glad to hear it went well. :)
