DS is in kindergarten and geared up for his first real Christmas party at school. Except for the fact that he has missed 3 days this week!
He was out Monday and Tuesday with a fever and a slight cough. I stayed with him Monday but he went to my mom's as usual on Tuesday. I also took him to the doctor on Monday and they said it was the same viral stuff that's all over here right not (not "THE" flu) and they couldn't really do anything.
My parents made the call yesterday that he was OK to go--fever was gone, he wanted to go, he loves school. When he got home, he slept from 4 to 6:30 and again at 10:30, but no fever.
Today when he woke up, DH said his nose was running excessively ("snot down to his knees" was the way he put it) and he was tired. When he got to my mom's he fell asleep sitting up at 11:30. They decided to keep him home again and he slept through until 3:30, except for waking up a few times to blow his nose. He wasn't warm until later in the afternoon when his fever came back.
I've given him a bath and am alternating tylenol cough and cold (treats fever AND the nose running) with motrin. His fever is much better and I'm just hoping that he makes it tomorrow--school doesn't start until 1PM for him so he has a shot.
BTW, I'm coughing at night now myself--and we will be at WDW in 11 days, and DH and the DDs are still liable to get it--so send some PD our way!

Robin, it sounds like we are living parallel lives right now! My dd5 missed all last week of kindergarten with the flu. She finally felt good enough to go back this Monday. Well, last night she was up all night with an earache. To the doctors today, she has an ear infection and fever(back up to 102) and has been throwing up all day. I told her we could go to school just for her party today since she was really upset about missing it (no fever and no vomiting as of then). I woke her up to go, she went in the bathroom, threw up and said "I'd better go lay down in stead. I don't think I want to go to the party". I ran by the school because I had to drop off something for the party. I actually started crying when I saw other classes having their parties with all the happy kids while my little angel was at home asleep on the couch. It broke my heart. I sure hope your little guy feels better and everyone else stays well. As you can see from my countdown, we'll probably pass each other on the monorail! Much pixie dust coming your way (send some of it back this way if you don't mind, I'm hoping dd2 isn't next with this relapse.)

So sorry he's sick at one of the most exciting times of the year. Maybe if he's sick tomorrow, you can do something special (rent a Christmas video maybe), something Christmasy.

DD6 missed her party today...she said "oh well, theres always next year"...as she was on the toilet for 45 minutes before she realized it was party day.

She does not have a fever, no cough, no runny nose, no aches, pains nada.

She felt "yucky" all day/night until bed time, then she was FEELING FINE!!!....

I've already told her she's out tomorrow too....no luck for her, she's gonna get rid of this bug BEFORE christmas

Robin.....as hard as this might be to do, I would suggest he miss the party. It wouldn't be fair if he infected the other children, not to mention the fact that he needs to be well to go to WDW.

When my oldest DD was 4, she had asthma on Hallowe'en. She was so very disappointed that she couldn't go trick-or-treating at the time. I was also very upset for her. So, I went out and got several little gifts and she got to "trick-or-treat" in her jammies at home (she would knock on different doors (the family room, etc) and I would answer the door and give her a little gift in her goodie bag). Of all the Hallowe'ens that she had (she is grown up now), that is the one that she remembers most. I suspect with a little creative thinking you could make a memory for DS without risking the health of others. It is important that we all consider the health of others as well as what is important to our children at the time. It is the same courtesy we expect from others, is it not?

I hope you all stay well and have a wonderful WDW trip!

Yeah! The "Private party" is a great idea! Get some decorated cupcakes or better yet, make some cookies, watch a Christmas video with hot chocolate & popcorn. Can I come?:jester: :Pinkbounc

Poor thing! My son still refers to "the year I missed Halloween", "the year I missed my birthday", etc. He seems to miss a lot of occasions. It's hard, but it's life.

UPdate--Ryan did make it to school yesterday--he is still a little sluggish but he had no fever and his nose running had slowed quite a bit and was still clear.
Now I am a different story...I have the worst headache in the western world--last night I felt boiling hot but DH said I didn't feel warm at all (time to buy a thermometer, LOL). Today my head feels like it weighs 20lb.s If I don't have some kind of flu I have a horrible head cold. DD#1 also says her throat hurts and she is very tired.
And our 6 days to NC/Florida count goes on! Can we make it?
