Hi, a while back inlaws bought us an older model dryer for ours went cerplunk. Now once in awhile I would smell burning, and the lint trap(in the back of the drum) is always clean. Of course DH said oh nothing is wrong, just watch what setting I use. :lmao: A friend said this could cause a fire and check the hose. Well I just did and WOW, I bet there is a grocery bag filled with lint. But the hose is a little damp here and there inside. The hose is way too long too. HELP. Did I just solve my own problem.?

This can be a very dangerous situation. You are on the right track though.

Get a shorter metal hose at a home improvement store like Home Depot, and put that on. Plastic hoses are not good. Before you attach the new hose, thoroughly vacuum out the inside of the dryer where the new hose will attach. If you can, get one of those dryer lint brushes -- QVC sells them. The one they sell is about $12.00 and made by Fuller Brush Co. You take that long flexible wand like brush and sweep it down into the dryer under the lint trap. (the thing you clean out after every use) You will be amazed at all the lint that is buried down there and you can not get it out by simply vacuuming because the stuff is way down deep where the vacuum hose won't go.

A burning smell is the lint actually burning up inside the drum somewhere.
