Ok, so my dry shampoo experiences have left me with a skunk-looking streak in my hair. I bought the Tresemme aerosol spray kind, and you can ALWAYS tell when I used it. I look like i have gray hair! What am I doing wrong?? & what brand do YOU use?? I could use suggestions!

I have not found a dry shampoo that I really like. I have tried the RockStar brand and some brand I can't remember (Salon something-or-other) at Walgreens.

How do you apply it? You are supposed to spray the can a certain number of inches from your head and then comb/brush the shampoo through your hair. I would guess one of three things: 1) Spraying too close to your head. 2) Spraying too much 3) Not brushing through enough.

If none of those things are an issue, I would try a different brand?

I tried "Not Your Mother's" Dry shampoo and it was absolutely fantastic. It looked just like freshly washed!

I'm not being snarky but really want to know...why do you use a dry shampoo and not just wash your hair?

Yeah, what she said. :confused3

I've never used dry shampoo, but imagine I'd only use it if I had some kind of surgery where I couldn't get in the shower or bend over a sink. Or if I was camping and had no access to a shower.

Well it takes me about an hour and a half to blowdry my hair and straighten it. If I can use a dry shampoo to absorb some of the oils and freshen it up a bit in between washings that would be great. I don't really enjoy spending 6 hours a week on my hair and I hate it curly.

Between washing, blow drying and flat ironing my hair it takes me at least 45minutes and sometimes longer to style my hair daily, if I can go every other day it would save me a lot of time, that's why I have tried dry shampoo's. I have also tried tresemme and rock-star without a lot of luck so I'd like to hear about others experiences as well.

Sometimes I use the smallest amount of baby powder on my scalp to absorb the natural oils and product build up...

MY stylist practically insisted that DD and I both start using dry shampoo and only washing every 3-5 days. She talked about how great they were and how much healthier our hair would be (versus washing daily, as we do now).

But I just... can't ... DO IT!!

I guess I want clean hair more than healthy hair. In my defense, our hair is very oily. Very. And I was only able to go one day without a wash before I freaked out and gave in and shampoo'ed.

Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Shampoo is good.

I use dry shampoo whenever I over sleep and don't have time to wash and dry my hair. It's very thick and takes forever to dry. It just freshens it up and absorbs some of the oil.

I haven't tried any but would love to. My hair is very fine and limp. 12 hours after a shower, my hair looks greasy and stringy. So if I plan to go out in the evening, I have to wash my hair again. It sounds stupid but it can be very annoying. Even more when you have dry skin.

One is only supposed to shampoo their hair every 3 to 5 days. I can't go 24 hours. And that's not showering, you can shower and not shampoo your hair.

Not sure if they stylist told you this, but washing hair daily actually causes your air to be more oily. The heat of warm or hot water, in conjunction with the removal of all your natural oils will stimulate your scalp to produce even greater amounts of oil. And, because all the oils are stripped from the length of your hair, your scalp looks much more oily in contrast.

If you can give your scalp and hair about a month to balance themselves out, you'll find that it feels much nicer, tangles much less, and has much prettier natural sheen than any shine product can even come close to.

I stopped the daily washing two years ago. I was amazed at how much new hair grew once I stopped.

I've heard this before. I'm a daily shampooer too and just can't bring myself to do this! Maybe this summer I'll try.

I bought the dry shampoo that the store "Lush" sells. I used it once and I think it worked fine. I put it on my hands and started underneath and then onto the top of my head. I used the "washing" motion and then brushed it.

For everyone trying to get away from washing your hair and can't do it....

Get in the shower, wet it, rinse it really good, and just condition it.

In the winter, I can easily go a week, doing this.

It's called co-washing and how Wen made millions off white girls who didn't know black girls have been doing this foreva! ;)

As far as a dry shampoo - when I had extensions a few years ago, and you can't wash your hair every day or even get them wet, I picked some up. I got some brand at Sally's. I'll be honest with you - I never liked it. It just never was right. JMHO.

I've used the Rock Star dry shampoo before and haven't had any problems with gray-looking hair. I have medium brown hair.

I just spray it at the roots around my face and down my part where it can look the greasiest.

I'm looking for a new brand though because it seems like I run out of it in 10-14 uses and I pay WAY too much for it to only get that many uses out of it.

I haven't used it myself but I have a friend who swears by the Lush dry shampoos. I use other Lush products and love them so I trust her :)

I won't swear by it, but how about the old brand now back in stores? I just saw Psssssst in the supermarket beauty aisle recently. That came out when I was a kid. Mm-mm years later, they must be doing something right.
