Dry, flaky heals...

I've been trying so hard to get rid of my dry, flaky heals. I've used a pumice stone, some foot scrub stuff, foot lotion, and foot soaks. I've increased my water intake. But, nothing is working. My heals will good for a little bit, then get all flaky and gross again. It's getting to be mule/sandle season, and I won't be able to wear them looking like this.

Any other ideas?

Lather up with Vasolene or Neutrogena Hand Creme before bed and sleep with a pair of socks on.

I've been wearing socks and shoes (won't say what kind;)) around the house (instead of my usual bare feet) and it's helped my feet. Just an idea.

Does it start with a "C" and end with "rocks"? :teeth:

I was wondering if the fact that I go barefoot is doing it. I don't even like wearing socks or knee-highs in my shoes.

Two items I will recommend:

#1 Vaseline, every single night before bed. Keep a tube on your bed side stand. Slather it on and then a clean pair of socks....in days you will be nice and smooth.

OR

#2 "Miracle Foot Repair". Purchase at Wal-Greens and slather that on night and day and then your socks.

The most important thing to remember is to do this EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. What is beneficial as well, is that after I have lathered my feet, the vaseline or creme is all over my hands....rub that in and your hands are as smooth as can be as well. EASY & EASY :thumbsup2

I'd check with your doctor and make sure you do'nt ahve a fungal infection--unlikely on teh heels, but still possible.

The slather vaseline and cover with socks suggestions does work. I can't stand sleeping with socks, so I use a foot cream, and let it soak in for about 5-10 minutes, then slide under the covers. The key like someone else said is to be religious about it.

I have the same issue... It is worse on one foot than the other. I think my one leg is shorter than the other and it's trying to compensate. :confused3
I know... TMI!

Anywhooo, I tried this stuff called "Heel Balm" and it works quite well. It comes in a blue package with a picture of, guess what... heels! I think it is made by "Flexitol."

Try it out! I got it free in my goodie bag at the Disney Marathon, I think. It was either that race or some other. Either way, I got it free...

Good luck!

I agree with the Miracle Foot Repair. Every year my heels get so cracked and dry that they bleed. This product actually worked for me. Last year I bought it for the first time and it helped them to heal within a few days.

And I thought I was the only one with this lovely problem ;) I actually got a cream from the doctor since my heels are so bad but I think I need to try the vaseline and socks routine. Something has got to help before it is sandals season.

Try Epilyt it's a lotion concentrate. It's a thin oily consistency. You put it on at night and it somehow breaks up the scaly dry areas. I use socks too so it won't come off on carpet or I won't crash and burn on my kitchen floor. But it's good stuff.

You can get it from pharmacy-you have to ask for it. They usually have behind counter.

I personally just have to break down and get a $20 pedicure before I start wearing sandels in the Spring and keep them up until Fall! I justify it to hubby for the health of my feet!
So far, he goes for it! ;)

I go and get Pediocures every 3 weeks and I still have to use myAvon Foot Works Therapeutic cracked heal relief cream . You feet will thank you for it

I use an Avon product, Footworks cracked heal relief cream. You'll notice the difference after 1 application.

Thanks for all the great replies! I used the only lotion I had last night (Bare Escentual's Don't Be Callous cream) with the socks and already they look much improved! I'll see how they look throughout the day, and will check out the other lotions/applications mentioned in this thread.

I've gotten pedicures before, but they never seemed to do anything for the heals. They would look good the day of the pedicure, but get cracked and stuff right after that.

GOOD GIRL :thumbsup2 Just remember to KEEP IT UP :thumbsup2 !!! You may want to even try it twice a day. The better they start to look and feel for you, the more you will keep up with the creme. I am obsessive about my feet. My sign is PISCES (means feet)...that has to be IT!!!! :rotfl:

I did do it again this morning with the cream - As soon as I showered, the heals started looking gross again. I feel like taking a sanding belt to them. :teeth:

I absolutely hated wearing shoes around the house but, since I have been wearing them, my feet are in a lot better shape. Promise. I haven't even used any of my lotions or creams on them lately.
