Dry Drunk???

Ever heard of this term?

Kate Clinton called W a "dry drunk" in her act last night. It's basically an alcoholic who quits drinking but does not get help from programs like AA. Their thinking is still cloudy and they make very bad decisions.

This was a new one on me, but the little bit of research I did on the Internet makes a lot of sense with what this president has done the past 6 years.

I know the term.
It’s what you said and that they continue the same self centered behavior they exhibited while drinking without making changes. So you create the same wreckage in other’s life and their own life that they had while they were drinking. I would think this would really hurt because you then get to feel the emotions caused by the old behaviors with numbing yourself to the pain. These people are no fun to be around that’s for sure.
Unless the person is a total sociopath and can cause that sort of chaos without any remorse.

They are bringing up some very good points on the community board – especially when it comes to the family and children… I feel really bad for them… imagine if you were a Bush twin and you’re, like trying to stay off the sauce, and your Dad keeps showing up at the same AA meetings you do… that’s way embarrassing.

Well, let's not talk about falling off bikes ok? We have bikes, and I can mount and ride, but fall nearly every time I try to stop. And let me tell you, that is pretty embarrassing!

Keeps me riding though. I try to stop only once; when we are back home and I'm on my soft front lawn!

Ahem.

Anyway, voting for Bush (any Bush) is not one of my sins.

Very interesting thread -- never heard of that term before but heavy duty substance abusers sometimes do seem to lack the clarity of thought they had prior to the abuse. (Of course, there's no telling how brightly SOME person's light was shining before the alcohol and cocaine )
