Rock with Sac?

I loved that guard! Are they still around?

I would pay to see St. Anthony's 1986 again! The classiest show ever!

Sac is still around with the same instructor for about 30 yrs now.Now that you mention "Rock"-I think 81 may have been their last year but what do I know. Do you have any of the WGI tapes? One of them gets some good face time on the 81 tape(saber with long hair in the front). Loved St Anthonys too and Quasar.

Gald to hear all is well, and good luck this summer!

I know some corps allow internet access, do Bluecoats? Will you have anyway to communicate with us this summer?

i remember seeing this once before but i didn't want to bump the old thread

anyways

I am going to be a rookie member of the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle corps this summer. I have achieved alternate status as a soprano player.

I'm very excited. Any corp vets out there? fans?

I'm more of a lurker on the Dis then anything else, but I noticed this thread and wanted to give a wave!

My uncle was a horn instructor for the Bluecoats for many years. He also marched with Garfield when he was a kid (if that shows how old he is LOL). My parents actually met each other in an old corps called the Gauchos, so I can thank DCI for my very existence. ;)

Both of my parents and I were in the Syracuse Brigadiers (DCA) in the 90's. My dad played horn, my mom was in the guard, and I was in the pit.

Good times. :D

Hey!

Watch the "If you marched Garfield your old" comments please! :rotfl2:

I just saw this thread and wanted to jump in. I've been involved with drum corps since the day I was born. My father has been marching since 1967 (DCA). My DH and I met while marching in the Rochester Crusaders (DCA). Before that my DH marched with Garfield. I have to say that I am very sad. My DS has been marching with the Scouts for the past 3 seasons. This is his age out year and he decided not to return :sad2: I was really looking forward to going to Disney after finals this year but I guess not.

Have a great summer.

saw this thread and had to join!

i never marched drum corps but my high school band director took us to see regionals after my freshman year and i loved it! my mom and i went to see finals a few years ago when they were in orlando. a few of my friends from high school were marching, so that was cool to see!

also...did winter guard in high school...for those of you talking about guard, does flanagan high school ring a bell? i was there the 1st year they got pretty good, now they're amazing and i can't believe how far they've come!

to the op- have a wonderful summer!!!

Just checked the coats webpage.....are you guys going "dark" this year?

Love the black helmet!

Just wanted to pop on and say "let's get this season started!" I am sad I will miss my usual trip back to MN to see opening weekend, but at least we get Santa Clara and the Blue Devils out here in AZ to start.

And send that kid some mail people! Send him Disney postcards, send him silly pictures, just send something. It is so much fun to get something when you are on tour, it is really appreciated. If you are going to a show, bring a couple bottles of gatorade to share with some incredible kids who just gave 110% out on the field.

To those of you "old" marchers...thanks for all you did to make this activity what it is and what it was!

Peace!

-Pat

If you've never seen a drum corps show GO! They are very entertaining and usually very reasonably priced! I agree, take a bag of snacks and gatorade and go back to the parking lot and look up our friend! Receiving a care package on tour is one of the best things that can happen to you when your on the road! Look at all of these towns....there must be one near you!

(I'll take Atlanta) If you cant make it to a show send a post card! Standing in the sun all day in a different, strange town each day can wear you down! Words of encouragement are always welcome!

PS.... I just looked up when this old fart marched....by now (6-7) we already competed in 10 shows! What's the delay in getting this season started?

My Dear Viki,

I'll give you this warning once, and once only.

Please refrain from using the "B" word when referring to drum corps.

Drum Corps is NOT band, not anything like it. It is almost like throwing a Midtown Manhattan in the face of a kid who is marching in corps to refer to it as band. Bands perform at half time shows at football games. Drum Corps spend the entire summer on the road, a different town each day, competing against each other.

I know your a sports fan so lets put it this way...

Band = Little League

Corps = The Majors

See, you learn something new every day! LOL

Give this a peek to see the difference, I picked this show because

1. It's music from Illuminations

and

2. it's the Cadets, the best darn drum corps out there!

See any saxaphones out there? NO....NOT....NADA....NOT WELCOME! LOL

GUNS?

(Spitting coffee all over the place) :rotfl2:

oh I have so much work ahead of me.

Rifles my dear.

Drums, Bugles, Rifles and Sabers!

Thank God Tyler is on the road, he would have a heart attack if he had Internet access and could read this! LOL

(Dont tell anyone, but I'm toying with the idea of flying up to Toledo for the show there. Drum Corps and Cedar Point in one weekend, whats not to like about that?)
