drum corps

Yes they still march in the same place. I love drum corps and it will always be a part of me but I really don't like the direction it is going these days. How can you have DCI in the same place for 10 YEARS!!! That is just crazy. I also do not like the use of microphones and talking. What the hell man this is drum and bugle corps. Oh yeah you can't even call them bugles and more since all of their horns are now in the key of b flat instead of G like a true bugle. Can you tell that I am and x horn player? lol...

:wave2:
Hi DIS drum corps fans! I didn't march DC but it's been a tradition for my dad and me to always go to one DCI show every year for over 15 years now. We're big fans! Next year will be my older daughter's first show to see - how many 4 year olds do you know demand to watch Blast! almost every day?:goodvibes

Can I just jump in here and brag a bit? My brother-in-law is the bald trumpet soloist you see throughout the Blast DVD. I married into a HUGE Star of Indiana family! DH was the last drum major of Star on the competitive field (93). He's now the brass caption head for Carolina Crown. I'm so proud of him!

Okay.. thanks for letting me brag. I'll be checking out some corps in a week at the Bloomington, IL show. I'll let y'all know what I see!

My 4 year old thinks your BIL is "the coolest" then.:cool2:

Great parking lot video of Phantom Regiment (dont ya just love that name) playing the Firebird Suite.

http://www.pearldrum.com/dci_2007/video/phantom_play5.html

It's obviously a promo for the drum company, but get the pets out of the room, turn up the volume and enjoy.

Now I dare you to call this a marching band!

Just think, these kids have 6 more weeks of 8-10 hour rehearsal days ahead of them, just think of how sweet this is going to sound in August!

You're right, Mike, I don't what the hell it was, but it was definitely not a band ...............:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Old drum corps T-shirt

"It looks like art because it is!" :rotfl2:

Just think, these kids have slept on a bus all night, praticed all day in the heat, and are still up way after the sun goes down making a video in some parking lot!

Gotta give these kids some credit!

(PS Tylers group is only .2 behind the Cavaliers, which is great news!)

looks like another great season is underway! Got to see 5 great corps marching their butts off in the AZ heat.

East Coast...watch out for the Blue Devils! They were incredible tonight. SCV just left me a little empty compared to what they usually do to me. I wanted to love them, but the Blue Devils stole my heart.

Academy...WOW! They are more impressive every time I see them. Top 12 is not out of the questions.

Missed the other 2 because I was working in the parking lot.

Keep on travel safe!

Poor Tyler and the Bluecoats.

If you watch the news of late you will probably understand why they will get a good chuckle at each show from now on this summer......

"Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome, from Canton Ohio, performing their show CRIMINAL the Bluecoats!

Ugh, what a year to be from Canton performing a show about crime! :confused3

Not really, but it could be.

Blue Stars (Lacrosse WI) beat the Madison Scouts (Madison WI) last night!.

First time since 1973 that has happened! :cool1:

Kind of like Fred and Barney passing Jeff Gordon in a NASCAR race!

Go Blue Stars!

Hey everyone! I met Tyler last week at the Blomington/Normal, IL show! Did you know Tyler is a girl?! I so didn't! But I watched their run-through at the ISU stadium, then went right on the field afterwards to find her. She was surprised, I think!

I asked her what she would really want me to get her and she requested "Swedish Fish"! So I got her a whole bag full and dropped it off at the food truck after the show (I couldn't hang out and wait for her, she was on Drum Major podium duty!) Sorry, no pic!

Bluecoats' show is very entertaining. I love the criminal theme. My favorite part is when the color guard is sneaking around "Laser" beams. I just hope the staff makes the beams more visible, they are hard to see right now.

Take care everyone!

If I go to Atlanta I'll have to look HER up also.

I too assumed she was a he. :confused3

So how is her summer going?

Obviously, starting tonight, she is having the summer of her life! This is UMBELEAVABLE!

Division I
1 Bluecoats 83.700
2 Blue Devils 83.500
3 The Cavaliers 82.700
4 Glassmen 74.100
5 Troopers 69.100
6 Cascades 68.600

Beating the Blue Devils and the Cavaliers on the same night, oh heaven! I'm pretty sure this is the first time Bluecoats have beaten either of these corps in their entire history!

Tyler, I know you cant read this, but enjoy your bus ride tonight!:cool1: Looks like you got a decent ride tonight, Centerville OH to Michigan City IN.

Dont Celebrate too much! I'll do that for ya down here in Orlando!

Heard from a friend who talked to another friend who was in the parking lot. She said the party around the Bluecoats busses was out of control, she doesn't think they will be able to load and depart till after midnight!

I'm so proud of our Tyler! :cheer2:

(Gotta go check flights to Pasadena now, I know, wait till the end Mike!)

WOW!!!! I still can't believe that coats beat BD and Cavies... That is amazing.. I just caught their show at the Kalamazoo and here in Port Huron. What a horn line!!!! They will take your head off... This is going to be a very close season... Back and forth everynight!! Wish I could make it to finals. :(

Geesh, looking at flights. If I go to Pasadena it's gonna cost me a pretty penny! Want to make a week of it, hit Disneyland and Knotts, but geesh, almost every decent flight is over $400!

Anyone got a decent discount flight website to recommend?

I would love to see Tyler, and the Anaheim Kingsmen alumni corps is a big draw, would love to see that!

Another incredible night to one heck of a season.

And I have made the jump and am going to volunteer for a week on a food truck this summer. Our local corps needed help and my work was generous enough to let me take the time.

Thanks to all your encoragement to get involved and help out this incredible activity.

Hmmm

That's an idea! Fly into another city (cheaper) and volunteer for week. But I don't think I can swing two weeks vacation. One to volunteer, and one for finals. I'm not cooking finals week!:lmao:

I've volunteered before with three different corps, it's a great experience!

I'll be honest, I'm trying to get a slot into Club 33, if that happens the trip is a go!:woohoo:
