about ten days ago I took my last two vicodin for a prescription for my tooth from almost a year ago. I threw out the bottle, and I don't have the prescription anymore. I only took it when my tooth acted up.

I have a drug test for a new job tomorrow, should I mention that, or should I not unless they say something. I know it would be out of my system, it's just a urine test, but I don't want any problems!!

What would you do?

yeah mention it to the testor, that way j i c you are covered, they can verify the scrip through your pharmacy or dentist if needed :)

Yep, they will ask, it's better if you let them know what's going on.

DEFINITELY mention it. If you don't it will appear you are hiding something. I'd also call the dentist to see if they can give you a letter or something stating you are on vicodin per his/her orders. You can show this to your potential employer in case there is a question.

In my last job, if someone told us in advance, we could prepare for it. But if was a surprise after the fact, even if they had documentation, it was next to impossible to get them approved for hiring.

I'd mention it, just in case it turns up in your urine.

Mention it and they may wait on the test

and avoid Poppy seed muffins

You should be fine. Mention it to them. If it ends up being an issue, the pharmacy can give you some sort of proof that you had a prescription.

thanks. I'm so nervous. I could kick myself for taking, but I wasn't thinking. I only took two and it was 10 days ago, will be 11 by tomorrow. I know it's just a urine test.

I'm so mad at myself!!

Definitely tell them. They usually ask you this on the form you fill out. Something like "List all prescription meds you have taken in the last 30 days."

A coworker of mine was pulled for a random screening a couple days after he had major hand surgery. He couldn't write, so he had to dictate all the info to the tester. He was on 3 or 4 pain killers, but since he had little needles sticking out of his fingers, there was no question he was telling the truth!!
