I'm helping plan a girls' trip that includes seeing the Drowsy Chaperone. At first, the trip was for just moms, but now we're thinking about including daughters. One is age 12 and two are 10.

The 12yo loves dance and musicals. We saw Sweet Charity last year, and her mom thought it would be OK for her.

My 10yo also loves dance. She's seen Lion King and Wicked.

Is The Drowsy Chaperone appropriate for these ages - language, lyrics, etc?

My dd 14 went to see it with her school . and i asked her and she said it was very good , That they would enjoy it.

Oh, I loved this show! I took my daughters a few years ago, so they would probably have been 12 and 17. It was so much fun - I would love to take them again, and I think it would be fine for the 10 year old. Maybe some mild innuendo which would go over her head. The part of the show that is so funny to adults - the play within the play and the comments of the narrator - might not appeal to a younger girl who was expecting a more traditional song and dance show only, but I think it would be fine for her to see.

Hope you enjoy!!!

I have never heard of this. I thought you were asking for what age groups would it be appropriate for an adult to doze off while chaperoning! I can be so dense sometimes.

It's a great newish Broadway show - it's been open for a couple of years now. When we saw it, one of the older women characters was played by Betty White, who used to be on The Mary Tyler Moore show, among other things.

It's one of the best shows I've seen - so clever and funny!!!

It's mainly very mild, but there are a couple of one liners that I'm not 100% sure I'd want a 10 year old hearing, depending on maturity.

Don't forget the Golden Girls!

To everyone who replied, thanks for the information - it is very helpful. I'll discuss it with the other moms.

OP - check out reviews on Broadwaybox.com
They have a section where it tells you if its family friendly or not.
