Dropping off rental car at Doubletree

We are flying into St. Petes and have to rent a car to get to WDW. We are using Budget and are dropping the car off at the Doubletree on Hotel Plaza Blvd.
Does anyone know if this hotel is close enough to walk back to DTD and get a bus back to BLT? And if not, does the car rental company do anything to help us get back?
We have always driven to WDW, so renting a car and flying is new to us. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

We did this on one of our trips. We checked in at the resort, and then DH drove to the car to the Double Tree. The kids and I took the bus to DTD, and we met there. I think the guy who checked the car in told DH it was maybe a mile - not bad. From DTD, you can catch a bus to BLT/Contemporary. Have a great time!

It is my understanding that Budget has a shuttle that can take you to your resort after returning your car at the Doubletree. But, you may want to doublecheck that...it may not always be available.

Would I do this just by calling Budget directly at the Doubletree?

I would let them know ahead of time that you will want a ride from them. We have rented from them many times. Sometimes they can take you to your resort, and other times they can take you just to DTD.
