Dropping nights from a reservation...

I would like to book our home resort (AKV) in a value 1BR for 5 nights. At the 7 month window, I would like to try to get the last three nights in a standard 1BR at BWV. Can I drop the last three nights at AKV and still keep the first two, without rebooking?

Also, since we are travelling in late October, I know that the 1BR standard at BWV may not be available so I am willing to waitlist. It is the same amount of points as the AKV room so I'd have nothing to lose.

My main concern is that since there are two resorts involved, I assume that they would be two separate reservations. I am OK with that since we may want to add a Dining Plan to one of the segments. If I waitlist the BWV room and it comes through, would it automatically cancel the last three nights at AKV without messing with the first two nights?? I really want to do this online at 8am at the 7 month window, but I think I may be safer doing it over the phone. By then, I may be forced to waitlist.

You will need to call MS to drop the nghts, on line all you can do is cancel the entire reservation.

Thanks for the heads up! I think I would be "safer" doing it this way anyways...plus it would give me an extra hour to sleep in:cloud9:.

I would make the initial reservation as two reservations and cancel the second one at 7 months to rebook.

I'd thought about this, but since I need all 5 days in a value room, waiting the two days to book the second half could result in no availability. Plus, I think that the reservations automatically "link" when they are a continuing reservation in the same room type.

No they don't. I had 4 4 night reservations at AKV for 4 months last year.

I wouldn't chance it by doing the two different reservations and trying to do things online. Even if you saw the 1 bedroom at BWV at 8:00 am, by the time you canceled and then booked, it could be gone and I think it would be difficult to get those value rooms back.

I'd suggest just calling and using the wait list option if need be.c
