Drop comparison on EE and Splash Mountain

I've read about the drops on EE and wondered how they compare to the big drop on Splash Mountain. Well, it's big to me! I can't stand how that one makes my stomach feel. Ugh!

I believe EE's biggest is ~80', Splash is ~56'--something like that. What isn't generally published or calculated is the angle of drops, which might be what concerns you most.

You are correct. The biggest issue is not just the height but how sharp the angle. If it's a rounded off drop, no problem. A steep, almost straight down drop, nope!

is EE's really that big? I didn't even think EE had a big drop :rotfl:
so, yeah, it must be the angle on it. EE doesn't bother me at all, Splash does .

Splash feels worse to me for some reason, but neither drop lasts long enough to worry me!

I love hills. They cannot make one too high, too long or too fast for me. If they could figure out a way to drag us up a mile and zoom us back down, I'd be there three hours early on Day One, anywhere in the world.

I live for hills on coasters.

I prefer the hill on EE to the one on Splash.

Splash is fine, but EE has more oomph. More tummy lifting. It's just way more fun. It is nothing compared to real thrill rides with real hills (e.g. Millennium Force), but it is much cooler than Splash and about the closest thing you'll find at Disney to a real thrill ride.

If you are not a fan of hills, I'd advise Splash befor EE. Of course, if you reeeeally hate hills, you should avoid both.

Splash has so much other adorable stuff to see, though. The little hill is just a bonus. If you can stand one hill, you should try to ride Splash. It is that cute.

Good luck and have fun!

I think the opposite. If you're afraid of drops, the one on Splash is much scarier. You're in a smaller log rather than a huge coaster train, which heightens the intensity. Also, you do not know that the drop is happening on EE until it is almost over. The drop on EE is angled, so it's not a true drop. The drop on Splash is not angled. The drop on EE is about the same as the length of the train you're riding in. The Splash drop is about six times the length of your log.

Thank you! That's exactly what I needed to know. I guess I'll be giving EE a try next trip. :woohoo::yay:

It's not a question of "angled" or "not angled"--it's "how angled". ;)

:)Both scare the hell out me for that one second which is why I do it over and over again.

I cannot stand drops. That said, EE is my FAVORITE ride evah! :woohoo: Angle may not be the best word, but the drop on EE turns as it goes down and does not freak me out nearly like Splash does. I really don't care for the drop on Splash at all and would avoid the whole thing if my dd didn't love it. :p

Now ToT, I cannot even bring myself to go on b/c of the repeated drops...I'm afraid I will get sick with repeated dropping!

~Splash Mountain is worse, IMO. I love Expedition Everest it's just a more intense version of Big Thunder and it's much smoother, IMO! Have fun! :)

Any two lines that aren't parallel form some sort of angle. Maybe you are using some kind of diction that roller coaster fans like to use? I don't understand what you're talking about there.

I do get that you think Splash is scarier than EE, but don't understand the "angled" business...or the "not a true drop" thing.

The forward drop on EE banks to the left, so it doesn't seem quite as steep to me as the Splash drop, but both are similar in my opinion.

The backwards drop on EE is a spiral, and it is the only drop that unsettles my stomach. It comes early in the ride, and I'm always glad when that part of the ride is over.

Both drops don't bother me whatsoever, however, I think that the drop on Splash is a bit more intimidating due to the log goes up the hill slow and as you are just about to go over the hill, you really get a sense of how tall the drop is. Whereas on EE it happens so fast, you hardly know it. Plus on EE you aren't going up a hill just to come back down it, rather it whizzes you down the hill and before you know it you are at the bottom.

I have trouble with drops, too. I agree with other posters - the Splash Mountain drop is 50 feet at the same slope so it feels bigger. EE doesn't feel as steep and it curves to the side and is less steep towards the bottom. I count out loud to get me through them. The Splash Mountain drop is a 4 count and the EE drop is a 7 - 8 count. :goodvibes

I don't like drops, but can many times be coaxed onto rides containing drops. I do enjoy Splash and EE very much. I think that the EE drop feels much bigger/scarier. Now I know why...it's 25 feet longer!!!

OMGosh me too! I hate, hate, hate roller coasters. All of them. It's the drop that I just do not like. This being said... I love EE but do not like that darn drop on Splash Mountain. At all. Period.

No one cal call me a whimp cuz I did say I love EE!:rotfl2:

So, give EE a whirl. ;)
