Is there anything to do on the way Driving to San diego???? Obviously we'll be coming from out of the area and are considering driving from Disneyland down to San Diego for the day... Just wondering if there's anything worth seeing or doing on the way down there... Thanks!

Well ... depends on what you mean by "on the way". There's no major tourist attraction right off the 5.
You could see Mission San Juan Capistrano. Quail Botanical Gardens is in Encinitas. Oceanside has a pier and another mission.

The Wild Animal Park and Legoland are located North of San Diego, but not places you'd stop on the way to somewhere else ..

There is a "Vista Point" off the Southbound 5 which is pretty much what the name implies. You pull off the freeway, park and look, then get back on.

UPDATE: This may be the most important "attraction" on the drive down for obvious reasons.

Depends on the time of year, Carlsbad has beautiful flower fields. Just google it for more info. We've taken some great pictures, the flowers are so pretty.

Except for a couple beaches and a nuclear power plant, really not alot.

There used to be a Music Museum on the way and Oceanside is nice. Capistrano and Dana Point are interesting.

It is hard for me to drive sometimes because there are these nice hawks and other wild birds that I start staring at. The Marines used to be out there and if you look closely you will see the old road. People watching can be fun also.

Make sure to dodge the illegal aliens, you'll know what I mean when you see the signs.
