We are driving from Ontario to spend a few days in New York city. We don't want to drive our car into Manhattan. Are there places we can leave the car for a few days and take a train into the city? We are crossing at Buffalo, so coming from the west. Thanks....any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure if there are places other then the commuter stations close to the city. And I don't know if they allow overnight parking. How about driving to say Albany and taking the Amtrak from there? I drive to NY alot but my BIL lives there so we drive into Manhatten all the time...of course I have a place to park for free once there.

Hi,

We live in NJ and we commute to NYC EVERY morning for work.

You can perhaps leave your car in Hoboken, NJ and catch a ferry over to NYC. There's a huge parking area and just hop on the ferry. Or you can leave your car in a parking are at one of the NJ Path Stations, hop on the train and it'll take you straight into NYC.

Hope this helps, PM me if you need further info. ENJOY!!!

:p

Another vote for Hoboken. That worked well for us. Parked, took the PATH train to the city.

We've also drove to Middletown, NY and parked there and hopped a train into the city - worked great too.

Thanks alot for your replies. I really appreciate the response. I have been looking at the map and both Hoboken and Weehawken look like ideal places.

Thanks again.
