driving to Disney

Hi all, i'm sure there is a thread about this some place but the Search function is temporarily down. My family along with another are planning on driving down to Disney from New Jersey. I was wondering if there was a plan that someone created to recommend a good time to leave to avoid traffic and where to stop on the way down to sleep. We would be leaving on a Sunday(Aug 5th) and our check in is on Monday(Aug 6th).

You're in the right place. Check out the "For 2000+ mile drivers" thread. We're on the third one. We discuss everything to do with driving to the World. Many of us are from the northeast and have lots of info and opinions to offer.

Hope you pop in over there! Are you guys planning on 2 cars, or 1? How many drivers total? Do you want to split the trip roughly in half, or are you game to pull a long first day with a shorter second day?

Here's what we did.. Left South Jersey at 7:19 am on Wed April 4. Stopped for a potty break at Maryland house, lunch break somewhere in Virginia and dinner break at a Cracker Barrel in NC. Stopped for the night in Florence, South Carolina around 8:30. Stayed at a Holiday Inn that served breakfast for free, ate and were on the road by 6:45 am. We were at our hotel in Port Canaveral Florda by 2:00! Coming home was a whole different story, but that's not important
