Driving to Disney> SunPass worth it?

Also, besides the tolls, another issue is time. When we were there last Christmas, the lines were backed up really far. We were with my mother (who lives in FL and has one in her car), but I remember commenting that I was glad that I wasn't in that line and having to worry about getting back to the airport to turn in a car and get checked in for a flight.

I live in FL, but only drive along the bline about three times a year. I bought it after getting stuck at one of the tolls for thirty minutes. So frustrating!

I rarely use any of the toll roads, but now I know if I need to, I have it. I think if you're driving down Florida, it might not be a bad idea at all.

My son owns a place on the east coast and I was using it for a couple of months each winter so I bought a portable Sun Pass unit and set the account up online, registering the unit number. We no longer use his house but I kept the unit and we visit regularly, renting a different car each time. The account is set to reload in $10.00 increments whenever it falls below a certain amount. We prefer traveling any road other than I4 so tolls are constant. Last Christmas we were staying in Orlando and traveling between Lakeland and WDW daily. After we arrived back in MA in January, I received a fine for running a toll in the rented car. BUDGET billed my credit card the fine. I was able to prove to BUDGET that it wasn't their rental license plate that the camera caught by providing proof, via Sun Pass, that I hadn't been anywhere near Miami at 7:00am on the morning of the infraction. The unit is only used when we're visiting and it's always in a different car so apparently it's not necessary to list a specific license plate. It's the unit, not the car it's in.

If you get a rental, Alamo assesses a fee of $10.00 per week for the SunPass. I bought it for convenience as roundtrip I don't think it costs more than $10.00, but I'm sure it's pretty close.
