Has anyone out there driven to Disney from Boston (south). We would like to do it in 2 days, staying over one night. We will be driving with 2 children (ages 6 & 9) and my mom. How long is the actual drive time?

It's basically 24 hrs...give or take. My ds drove it last fall. Actually to Tampa. But he did it in three days with 8 hrs of driving each day.
A lot of people from NE drive to Rocky Mt and stop there for the night.

The drive itself isn't too bad, I've done it before in 2 days as well as in 1 day (for the very adventurous...with multiple drivers). As goofy4tink noted, that would be about the average time and stopping point for a two day trip.

It was are organized you can turn your car/van/SUV into a pretty efficient machine. The key is to not allow for clutter to develop, or you will begin to feel restricted.

The traffic was a mess from Hartford through Delaware on the way down.
It rained from North Carolina to Boston, Mass. on the way home

Me and my wife alternated turns driving our Nissan Xterra every time we stopped for gas. My 3 year old held out a lot better than I thought she would on the way down and on the way back to Boston.
Check the thread "for those folks driving" for suggestions.

Good Luck,
Joe

I drive from the south shore to Florida all the time, A lot will depend on when you go and what time you start. The school vacation weeks will increase your drive time if you leave on the weekend before. Last year I left on the friday night before April vacation started and never saw so much traffic on the roadways. the NY thruway leading to the GWB was an hour backup and every rest area on the NJ turnpike had 1-2 mile long lines getting into them.

My normal drive time from Carver to Deltona (about 45 minutes northeast of Disney) is 20 hours. I have done it in 18 and have also done it in 30 hours.

DB and I just came back from picking up a car in Tampa and the trip from Deltona to Mansfield was 18 1/2 hours.

Now for your plans, a lot depends on how long you want to drive each day. The halfway point is around the Richmond, VA area. Fredericksburg, VA (about a 1/2 hour before Richmond) is a popular stopping point as well as Roanoke Rapids, NC (about 45 minutes after Richmond) for those who wish to travel in the 10 to 12 hour range. Lumberton, NC is another popular place for an inital drive of 12 to 14 hours.
