Driving to Disney – do you drive overnight or during the day?

we are driving from Virginia... leave about 3:30am and should get there no later than 3:30pm (ish)...

We drive from Nashville it's about 700+ miles it takes about 11 hours, we usually leave :car: around 4am

Driving from Missouri ~20 hours with meal breaks. As with any trip of that length, we drive as far as possible day 1, get a room, finish up next day.

We drive from Dallas/ Fort Worth (getting across to the other side of Dallas is the biggest challenge of the trip!) It's too far to drive straight thru, so we used to drive mostly during the day for 2 days...Now we break it into 3. We leave late afternoon- hopefully just in time to miss the bulk of rush hour traffic and drive until about 8, stopping in Monroe LA. Then the next day is our "long" day...9-8 or so, but this gets us only about 2 hours from WDW. We get to relax- sleep in a little- clean up the car etc and can still be at the hotel checking in before noon. works out a better value because we are able to actually do stuff on arrival day.

We drive from VA to Jacksonville and it takes us roughly 10 hrs. We have relatives in Jacksonville, and that's why it's ok for us to drive straight through, since we have a place to recharge. We've done both daytime and nighttime drives. My mom just stays awake with my dad. They both munch on snacks and drink coffee. We usually take a 30 min nap at a Georgia visitors center/rest stop before the last stretch to Jacksonville.

I can't even begin to imagine driving with my entire crew, but, if we did, we would most likely leave at night. 95, however, is tricky. The never ending night construction can cost you almost as much time as rush hour through NY & DC. For a family of 7 like ours, the only manageable option is taking a few at a time & flying, although my 2 year old does not enjoy flying

Due to the way my DH works, we have found what works best of us is to leave when he gets off work and then drive until he needs to stop and start again the next morning.

We have never been overnight drivers. When we go home, we leave really early in the morning and drive straight through home. Its about an 18 hour drive for us.

We have eight kiddos 13 and under...we drive, otherwise we'd need a loan for flights :). It's two solid days of driving for us, but our kids do like the drive. One of my sons just said the other day that he can't wait for the drive down so he can have a whole day of playing his DS...

We drive through the day, I'd get too tired doing it overnight. I will drive until 12-2am though. I'm too worried about me falling asleep or the other drivers on the road doing so.

There is only 5 of us and I would need a loan for flights...... lol

I have done both, but I prefer leaving really early and driving during the day. We get there around dinner that way. The overnight was good because we were able to spend an extra day on the trip, but we were pretty tired the first day (including DD who didn't sleep as soundly in the car and who was interrupted for bathroom breaks during the night).

I would probably get the loan before driving with my five! LOL, they are good in the car, but they range from 2-(almost)18 & that,s just too big of an age difference plus the teenagers don't fit comfortably in the car for long drives now that I went from mini van to SUV

Preaching to the choir lol My kids 21, 15, 7 ... figure that one out :| now try finding movies that they will ALL watch at the same time...

We drove for the first time last summer. We live in n/w Indiana (just outside of Chicago). We left at 2am, and 15.5 hours later, we made it to our hotel for dinner that night.
